BenQ GP1

BenQ Joybee GP1 mini projector

By Campbell Simpson

The BenQ Joybee GP1 is a portable projector that uses LEDs as its light source. This enables BenQ to design a very small device that fits in the palm of your hand -- even so this projector has a reasonable light output and a DVD-quality native ...

Good image quality, 80-inch maximum screen size

Non-standard resolution of 858x600 pixels, low overall light output

The BenQ Joybee GP1 mini projector doesn't have a zoom lens, but its fixed lens has a variable focus to allow it to create a sharp image of between 15 and 80 inches in size. The throw distance is range is between 75cm to 4m away from the projection ...

ViewSonic PJD5351

ViewSonic PJD5351 projector

By Campbell Simpson

ViewSonic€™s PJD5351 is a short-throw projector that can display a 60in image from only 1.1 metres away. This makes it very useful for use in confined spaces, and its specifications make it an enticing package although the lack of a zoom option may ...

High brightness, good dynamic contrast mode, useful short-throw lens

Annoying remote, fixed focal length

We were impressed by the ViewSonic PJD5351€™s combination of a short-throw lens, bright lamp and versatile dynamic contrast ratio. It makes an equally good show of presentations and videos, so if you€™re looking for a compact big-screen projector it€ ...

INFOCUS IN3106

InFocus IN3106 projector

By Andrew Harrison

The InFocus IN3106 is a high-definition DLP projector that includes useful features such as USB DisplayLink. So as well as the expected VGA D-Sub, DVI and S-video inputs, you can now project the screen of a laptop over just a USB connection.

Great picture quality, quiet

Slow framerates when using DisplayLink USB connection

This latest-generation DLP projector may be addressed to professional business movers who need a portable and high-quality solution, but it's image quality stands above expectation, making it suitable for home cinema use. Quieter than older projectors ...

Hitachi CP X2510

Hitachi CP-X2510

By Campbell Simpson

High brightness levels, acceptable contrast in Presentation mode, useful image adjustment modes, decent speakers

Fan can be loud in high brightness mode

Apart from a loud fan and bland design, the Hitachi CP-X2510 is a good projector with a reasonable price. Good in-built speakers and reasonable image quality mean this business projector will be a good all-in-one unit for presentations.

InFocus IN3108

InFocus IN3108

By Campbell Simpson

Bright enough for daylight use, good contrast ratio and colour representation, high resolution

Loud fan in high brightness mode, high heat output

If you have the ability to mount the InFocus IN3108 projector in an out-of-the-way space, it's a great addition to a board room. In darker rooms it offers good contrast, sharpness and brightness.

Optoma Pico PK101

Small and easy to use, includes second battery

Limited input capabilities, projected images are somewhat blurry

Optoma's diminutive projector makes a great travelling companion, despite somewhat fuzzy image projection.

InFocus IN83

InFocus IN83

By Campbell Simpson

DarkChip4 video processor means contrast and natural colour are fantastic, high brightness, crisp detail

Pricey, no adjustable lens shift, limited zoom, no dynamic iris

If you can find a suitable location to set it up, the InFocus IN83 home theatre projector produces crisp, detailed 1080p images with great natural colour after a small amount of tweaking.

Small, 720p native resolution, good brightness and colour accuracy

Slim remote is easy to lose - and is necessary for control

EPSON EH-TW3000

Epson EH-TW3000

By Campbell Simpson

Good picture quality, high brightness

Slightly loud in high brightness mode

Epson's EH-TW3000 Full HD 1080p home theatre projector is a great all-round model. It costs less than $3000 and it performs almost as well as models costing significantly more.

Infocus X10

InFocus X10

By Campbell Simpson

Good price, great picture, lots of scope for adjustment, incredibly sharp

Obsolete DarkChip1 technology, long-throw lens is difficult for small rooms

If you can look past the outdated specifications, the InFocus X10 is a fantastic projector. For a low price you get a high quality Full HD 1080p image that is vibrant and sharp. The X10's downsides are only minor in our opinion.
