Optoma ML500

The Optoma ML500 ($650 street) doesn't fit in any of the usual projector categories. Like pico and palmtop projectors, it uses LEDs rather than a traditional lamp, and it's only a little heavier than a large palmtop. On the other hand, it's brighter...

Smaller and lighter than standard lamp-based projectors. Brighter than pico and palmtop projectors

Shows scaling artifacts (unwanted patterns added to some screens) even at what is supposed to be its native resolution

Dimmer than a standard projector, but much brighter than a palmtop and nearly as lightweight, the Optoma ML500 can stand up to a reasonable level of ambient light.

Optoma ML500

It is time to talk portable and that is exactly what the Optoma ML500 is. Weighing in at just 2.5 pounds, this projector definitely is light and easy to travel with. It boasts 500 lumens of light output and is a native WXGA(1280x800) projector. The...

This projector is also very capable since it features a HDMI port as well as all the standard ports you might expect your basic projector to have. Lets take a look at some of the projectors highlights and then we will move on to the more in-depth review

Almost Perfect

Yes it doesn't have audio out, that is what home theater receivers are for! For all of the above I got it on sale for $400 and would buy another at that price in a heartbeat. At 600 it is another question

This is an excellent projector, that is nearly perfect 9/10. Color, contrast, and clarity are all outstanding, motion is smooth, and the image is bright enough in the right circumstances (brighter than expected)

The projector can be picky with HDMI, and VGA input signals if not in the right format, brigtness is low (but you should know that going in at 500lm) ; Minor focus issue requiring a 10 minute warm-up time, set the focus and don't adjust it on startup,...

Perfect Size and Quality

The small size (but big, bright picture) make this projector perfect for taking to meetings so everyone can share what is being discussed. In a room with 3 to 10 people, the ML-500 projector allows everyone to see graphics, numbers in a spreadsheet, or...

Attractive Design ; Fast Setup ; Good Connection Options ; Good Resolution ; Great Picture Quality ; Lightweight

Another great LED projector from Optoma.

This is my second Optoma LED projector. I replaced my PK301 with the ML500. The ML500 has more lumens and a full HDMI input as opposed to the mini-HDMI input on the PK301. That was my biggest problem with the PK301 as the mini-HDMI eventually stopped...

Bright image, lots of options, and no bulb changes necessary

LED...NO MORE BULBS!

This little guy is quite the projector. I'm throwing a 120 inch picture on an electric screen. I previously used a Sony VPL-HS10 and love the vibrant colors this one has. The Sony looked great but I hate dropping anywhere from 200-300 dollars for a new...

A taste of Home Theater Entertainment!

I've always on the lookout for a flat screen TV. The Sonys and Samsungs are all great but I knew from the start I really wanted a HUGE screen for a real "home theater experience". The 80" screens are waaaay beyond my budget so I started researching...

Value for the price. LED technology, video quality for compact size

Won't save setting changes after restart, other quirks
