Some of the most affordable front projectors are coming from the pro divisions of well-known companies. Want to pay around $2,000 for an LCD projector? Consider the Panasonic PT-L300U. It hails from the Presentation Systems Group of the Panasonic...

While this projector is easy to use, it has one ergonomic flaw that haunted me every time I adjusted the picture. The basic picture controls are in a submenu within the main menu. Changing any picture parameter always starts with two (or more)...

Panasonic PT-L300U vs. InFocus X1 -- a critical comparison

Two of the finest video projectors selling for under $2,000 are the Panasonic PT-L300U and the InFocus X1. The L300U is selling for about $500 more than the X1 on the street. So we've received a lot of email asking whether the L300U is worth the extra...

It is simply not appropriate to say that either the L300U or the X1 is the "better" projector. They are both are outstanding values for the money. The objective of this overview has been to help you focus on the relative strengths of each of them, so...

Panasonic PT-L300U review for home theater

In the last couple of months we've seen two inexpensive widescreen LCD projectors hit the market--the Sanyo PLV-Z1 and the Sony HS10. Both have been very impressive entries. But now Panasonic strikes back with a dynamo of its own, the new PT-L300U. In...

Panasonic has combined all of the vital elements needed for resounding success-excellent contrast, plenty of brightness for home theater, no pixelation, no fan noise, small, easy to install, all for a street price under the magic $2,000 barrier. Dollar...

Product Specifications

The feature-packed projector PT-L300U boasts three 960x540 pixels, high-resolution LCD panels, which delivers beautiful images from any source - for viewing movies, sports and games - and is super easy to use. The PT-L300U is compact, stylish and lightweight - loaded with the leading technology Panasonic has developed for professional movie projectors. The PT-L300U uses three of new high-resolution, 960x540 pixels wide LCD panels, for sharp, beautiful images from DVD, high-definition digital TV, and other advanced sources. Thanks to brightness of 800 ANSI lumens and high 800: 1 contrast, you can enjoy movies with natural colors and clear detail. When an LCD projector shows images on a large screen, black lines can appear between the pixels. This phenomenon - called the screen door effect - is minimized in the PT-L300U by Panasonic's original smooth screen technology. Using a double refraction crystal device, smooth screen technology reduces the gaps between pixels to give images the same smooth texture you enjoy at the movie theater. The high-resolution wide LCD panels combine with a 120-watt UHM lamp to deliver brightness of 800 ANSI lumens. Images are easy to view, even in rooms that are not dark. Contrast is also a high 800: 1, resulting in deeper blacks and sharper, more detailed images. You get whiter whites, blacker blacks, and crisp, natural colors in everything you watch, from nature programs to cartoons and animation. The PT-L300U provides both vertical and horizontal keystone correction to compensate for image distortion when the projector is used at an angle to the screen. Vertical keystone correction compensates for distortion in the up-and-down direction, while horizontal correction compensates for right-to-left distortion. You enjoy distortion-free images when projecting from an angle of up to 30 degrees in any direction (up, down, left or right). Use the PT-L300U with a DVD or video player, a PC, game machines, and more. The component video input terminal lets you enjoy the full quality of images from high-end progressive scan DVD players. The PC IN terminal can be used to connect PCs and game machines. Other terminals include video, S-Video, and audio inputs. The PT-L300U also adds a Digital Visual Interface (DVI), which directly accepts digital signals from PCs. A quiet new fan reduces operating noise. The use of twin blades reduces light leakage. Thanks to this special design, you can fully enjoy the beauty of the large-screen images. The PT-L300U features an SD Memory Card slot. Simply insert a card containing images taken with a digital still camera or digital video camera, and you can project them onto a large screen. Enjoy fast, easy slide shows without connecting cables or other equipment. The extra-short-throw lens on the PT-L300U produces big images in small spaces. For example, you can get an 80-inch diagonal 16: 9 wide-screen image from a distance of 8.2 feet. The image size ranges from 40 to 200 inches, with easy adjustment using the manual zoom. Measuring just 11 x 11 inches and weighing only about 6.4 pounds, the PT-L300U is thin, compact and easy to carry. You can set it up just about anywhere - on a table, in an AV rack, or mounted to the ceiling (using an optional ceiling mount).
