There's enough room for a healthy complement of connectors on the back, including two VGA connectors for computers (both also double as component video ports), one pass-through VGA connector, and connectors for S-Video and composite video.
Short throw. Reasonably light and portable. Comes with a soft carrying case
Obscure onscreen menu options and labels on the remote. Contrast ratio is unusually low
Thanks to its notably short throw, the Mitsubishi XD500U-ST is a good choice for anyone who needs to project large images in tight spaces.

DisplayLink uses USB cable to connect to a computer. Highly portable
It's too easy to accidentally turn it off in the middle of a presentation. Unusually long throw
The InFocus IN1100 earns lots of points for connecting by USB cable, but it loses just as many for some odd oversights, most notably shutting off without asking for confirmation.

The Epson EX70 is on the leading edge of a new trend for video connections to a computer--using a USB cable.
Epson's proprietary Plug 'n Project uses a USB cable to connect to a computer. Shorter throw (projection distance) than most. WXGA (1280-by-800) resolution.
Poor image quality for standard-definition video.
Despite a relatively large size, the Epson EX70's shorter-than-usual throw, widescreen resolution, and ability to connect by USB cable make it a tempting portable companion.

The BenQ MP771 is a short-throw projector suited for small spaces.
Short throw. High-quality image with good brightness and contrast ratio. Analog and digital connections.
Although sound quality is good, the volume is barely loud enough for even a small room.
The BenQ MP771 offers both an impressively short throw and a high-quality image paired with useful touches that include digital and analog connections.

If you need a projector for typical PowerPoint presentations, the NEC Display Solutions NP100 won't break your budget.
Low price. Easy setup. Easy-to-use menus and convenient controls. Reasonably light weight (5.3 pounds).
Relatively obvious rainbow effect, particularly for full-motion video.
The NEC Display Solutions NP100 will give you a bright, reasonably high-quality image for presentations, and it won't blow your budget.

The Epson MovieMate 72 brings 720p high definition to an instant-theater projector.
Instant theater with 720p projector. Integrated DVD player. Integrated stereo audio system. Output for subwoofer.
Doesn't deal properly with 1,280-by-720 computer input.
Except for a screen, the Epson MovieMate 72 includes everything you need for setting up a 720p home movie theater.
