Samsung SP-A600 DLP Home Theater Projector First Look

and bringing some of that functionality to the masses. It's a good move, considering the company's last two home theater projectors left a price gap of $8000 between the two models. With an expected retail price of just $1,795, the new SP-A600 might...

Samsung SP-A 600 B

The Samsung SP-A 600 B is a one-chip DLP projector that's been on the market since summer 2009 and currently sells from about 1,500 GBP in the UK. In the US, Samsung lists the device for 1,799.99 USD, but it's advertised online for about 1,650 USD.

Powerful light output ; Superb 24p reproduction ; Excellent colours in the bright lamp mode ; Simple operation ; Sharp zoom optics, right up to the edge of the picture

Weaknesses in the de-interlacing ; Colour errors in eco mode require a firmware update

This Samsung has nothing to fear from similarly priced competitors — the colour purity, sharpness, and brightness are all the best that money can buy. Weaknesses in its de-interlacing and faulty non-primary colours in eco mode slightly water down the...

Samsung SP-A600

The SP-A600 is a bit of a departure from Samsung's reputation for home theater projectors. Samsung has been best known for their more expensive SP-A800, SP-A700 and before them, eariler models that offered rather excellent color and image accuracy....

Good out of the Box picture quality ; Very good color accuracy post calibration in best mode (Movie 1) ; Well balanced, good overall picture quality (although gamma is off a bit) ; A very bright entry-level projector in its "best" mode, just above...

The remote control's lack of a backlight ; Dark shadow detail, while good, isn't up to a few other projectors priced similarly ; Limited placement flexibility, and no lens shift ; Black level performance is definitely entry level ; Slight light leak...

It's one of those projectors that a first-time buyer can really enjoy, and a good first step 1080p projector for those who catch the "bug" and become enthusiasts

Samsung SP-A600B

The SP-A600B projector has the pictures to match its good looks

Deep blacks ; Great colour ; Styling

No frame insertion ; Some judder

We spotted the SP-A600B online for £999, which makes more sense, given its limited flexibility and mediocre haul of features. If you fiddle with the machine's colour temperatures you are rewarded with superb colour to match its super fine detail. Hard...

Samsung SP-A600B review

The Samsung A600 is a beautifully designed, Full HD home cinema projector. It uses DLP technology, giving it incredibly good colour reproduction and contrast, and it costs less than £1,000. Its lamp is rated at only 1,000 lumens, however, so it's only...

The A600 needs a dark room and it doesn't have lens shift. However, the rainbow effect isn't very pronounced, it's quiet and image quality is excellent.

Samsung SP-A600B DLP Projector

It's only the third Samsung projector we've seen, so here's hoping it's a fine one.

While there are enough good things about the A600B to persuade me that Samsung should persevere in the scarily competitive projection marketplace, I can't help but think that Samsung really needs to commit to the market more whole-heartedly if it's...
