In its usual style, Sony has used its own technology to shame the competition

Excellent contrast and black levels; Almost inaudible fan; Slick styling

Limited lens shift range; Not the brightest image; Expensive technology

The only catch is that this technology still carries something of a premium, so while DLP and LCD projectors are tumbling in price, Sony's projectors are looking a little pricey. Clearly though, there are advantages and on contrast and black and white ...
