Toshiba MT400 review

Toshiba's MT400 has been specifically designed for home use. It's stylish, compact and well connected, with extraordinary performance from standard-definition sources at a price that won't break the bank

Compact, stylish design ; Ease of use ; Native PAL resolution ; Superb pictures

Not HD Ready ; Average specification ; Yellow-tinged images

Like other DLP projectors, the MT400 keeps its composure when faced with small spaces with only small, discreet spaces between pixels and none of the 'chicken-wire effect' that afflicts LCD models

Toshiba MT400

Toshiba claims that this budget DLP projector isn't really a budget model at all. We investigate the MT400.

Great standard def picture quality; decent features

Limited setup; noisy running (bright mode)

Toshiba TDP-MT700

Toshiba's MT700 was arguably the first affordable HD Ready DLP projector in the UK when it launched last April - and now that it's had its price discounted to just ?1,700 from an original launch price of ?2,500, it's also the cheapest!

Decent picture quality, good features count

DLP technology issues, black levels aren't the best

Product Specifications

The TDP-MT700 offers the picture quality home theater enthusiasts have been craving for years. With 5 different video settings plus 3 user modes Toshiba is putting all the control at your fingertips. Add to this mix DLP technology from Texas Instruments, Emmy Award winning Faroudja Video Processing and Toshiba's long history, as a leader in the consumer electronics industry and the end result is obvious.
