Epson MovieMate 30S

Overall, image quality is very similar, and, of course I'll go into that in more detail later

Rich colors, very good dynamics ; Solidly built ; Good color accuracy "out of the box ; Good price performance (complete with sub-woofer and screen, at Costco, for $999) ; Easy enough to operate ; Bright, or rather especially bright! Enough to handle a...

Pixels are very visible ; Remote would be better, if backlit ; Portable in concept, but rather bulky, no included carry case ; While sound is impressive for what the system is, it's still not going to match a good "home theater in a box" surround sound...

Bottom Line: For an "all-in-one" the Epson has just about everything it needs, to do a good job. It's also probably about as childproof as anything can be. If it weren't for the pixel visibility factor, I would be raving about the MovieMate 30s and...

Blu Ray Update

A good DVD, upconverted from the player, still looks pretty close to HD via blu ray from the PS3. So I would say if you got this projector, you'd be perfectly happy watching DVD. Getting the PS3 was fun but not necessary in my opinion. At any rate, I'm...

Update: we bought a PS3 and have been using the projector to play Blu Ray movies and play PS3 games. It really is amazing. I have a 24" 1080p monitor also, and have moved the PS3 between the two. The huge 720p picture (120") is amazing and hard to tell...

Now that we have a PS3, we don't really need the built-in DVD player. But if you are starting out in a HD Home Theater system, this is still a great way to start.

Very Fun!

Although there are no component inputs, it includes a vga to (female) componenet cable, so you can plug your standard male componenet cable (from a console, set-top box, etc) into the projector via the VGA input. (VGA and Component are basically the...

Beautiful picture! Vast improvement over my current Epson Home 10 (standard def) projector. Super convenient with builtin DVD and speakers. One cable (power). Super convenient picture adjustments (left/right, up/down screen shift, plus manual zoom)....

no handle, which is a shame because you will want to move it from room to room, and outside in the summer time. Made my existing home theater system obsolete

works great, very good picture, easy to set up

not enough sound from the built in speakers. There is no audio out connection but you can add speakers if you get a special cable to connect from the headphone jack. it only cost about $5.00 from the local electronic store

After experimenting with different analog speakers attached to a PA System, I found that I needed computer speakers with the mini plug that plugs into the head set plug. The ones that I found with a separate volume control are a small pair of Bose...

For aesthetic affects, I used a large (California King) bed sheet and put it up against our outside wall. It worked great! Unless you intend to use an external 5/1 speaker system or the self-contained speakers in the projector, I recommend using Bose...

I found no inconsistencies in what was represented from the manufacturer and what I received. I used it for the first time this past weekend (4/26/08) and everybody loved it
