ViewSonic Pro8200

ViewSonic says it considers the Pro8200 a home theater projector because of a constellation of features, including the 1080p native resolution, the two HDMI 1.3 ports, and two features that should, in theory, give it a high-quality video image: a...

Two HDMI ports. Native 1080p resolution. Zoom lens (1.5x). Suitably bright. Works well as a data projector

No 3D support. Particularly noticeable rainbow effect, with light areas breaking up into primary colors

Although billed as a home theater projector, with 1080p native resolution and two HDMI ports, the ViewSonic Pro8200 succeeds better as a data projector.

ViewSonic PRO8200 1080p Projector Review

The ViewSonic Pro8200 could make for an affordable home theater experience.

An affordable home theater experience; Pretty good colors

Trouble with detail in black and white values; Below average peak brightness

The ViewSonic Pro8200 ($899 MSRP, slightly cheaper online) is an HD 1080p projector with HDMI connectivity that we peg as best used for home theater. It is not a projector to be used reliably for presentations or in a classroom. The peak brightness is...

Viewsonic Pro8200

Ultimately, the Viewsonic Pro8200 can be considered a dual purpose projector - a cross-over. It can be used for business or education presentations, or fit right at home as a very nice home entertainment projector

Bright entry level home projector with sufficient lumens for most portable business use as well ; Very versatile projector, overall ; Loaded with inputs, including 2 hdmi, 2 computer, 1 component, 1 USB ; Big audio - a pair of 10 watt speakers, three...

A bit noisy in full power mode, with a claimed, and unimpressive 31 db ; HDMI seems not quite as built-proof as other projectors ; Small remote's buttons cannot be read in dark despite blue led backlight ; Lack of lens shift (although typical of lower...

Combine that with the rich feature set - yes, even picture in picture, and the Viewsonic stands out among the sub $1000 home projectors, and it has to be the most versatile of the cross-over projectors I've seen so far for the price. It's when I added...

The very long lamp life and 1080p HD resolution make this projector one of the best

ViewSonic does not specify the lens type

The ViewSonic PRO8200 is a great home theater projector for any room size.

Great for the $$$, obviously not the best

All in all, it's a great projector that I use very rarely (around 1-hour per/week) to watch a show or two.

This is my first projector I've actually owned and it rocks. With a little tweaking, you can achieve great quality out of it

At this price points, you're bound to have some cons. For instance, this projector is very sensitive to the circuit that it's on. I have a mini-fridge and whenever it's on, I get horizontal lines across the screen more than usual. Yes, this does mean I...

You want a 1080p projector with audio out? Don't hesitate, get this and you won't regret it

Everything I could have asked for. Easy interfaces, easy to switch between things, nice to have an audio out, the wii looks amazing and the 1080p? I absolutely love this thing

It can get a little warm, no indicates on the temp monitor which is perfect. The manual said 4 hours of daily use is high, the actual is 14 hours of daily use so that's reasonable but a misprint in the manual

Love it!

I researched long and hard before deciding on this projector. I decided on a DLP in spite of the possible rainbow effect ; I am in fact sensitive the rainbow effect but my husband is not. I barely notice it on this projector but it does flare up...
