Brave: The Search for Spirit Dancer (PlayStation 2)

Brave finds some decent variety with its standard action adventure format, but it's neither a particularly challenging nor ambitious game.

Brave: The Search for Spirit Dancer

The whole point of your quest is illustrated in the title: The Search for Spirit Dancer. A massive, intimidating fire skeleton is threatening Brave’s village, and he must find the legendary Spirit Dancer to stop it. Brave is a very young Native...

Brave: The Search for Spirit Dancer

Wild horses (plus bears, eagles, wolves, and buffalo) couldn't drag Brave away

Top-shelf animation ; Well-crafted story ; Flying tomahawks

Terrible camera ; Instant missed-jump deaths ; Using the bow and arrow sucks

Brave: The Search for Spirit Dancer

As such, the adventure genre has become a genre largely focused towards the younger gaming crowd. The colourful, creative and imaginary creatures that usually adorn each adventure title often don't appeal to the older game; therefore, many developers...

Brave: The Search for Spirit Dancer: PlayStation 2 (PS2) Game Reviews - The Armchair Empire

It seems like Brave: The Search for Spirit Dancer was announced so long ago and then dropped off the radar – as many games do. I feared that it was going to be yet another game that I was looking forward to playing just sliding into oblivion

Fun platforming experience

Breath of Fire: Dragon Quarter

Despite the numerous changes the series has undergone since its inception in the 16-bit era, there remains one constant in the Breath of Fire universe: the lead character, Ryu, and his ability to transform into a powerful dragon-like entity. Along with co

Loads of fun

This is a great platform / adventure game. I would give it a perfect 10. Wonderful puzzles and battles, great variety and beautiful to look at. If you loved Rayman or Jak and Daxter, you'll enjoy this too. I am 39 and my son is 5 , we both love it.

Great for the kids

I bought this used (16.99) for my 7 yr old son and he thinks it's very entertaining. I played for a little while. I can see how it is easy to complete, because it seems to move along well. But to my son, it's about playing, not about completing the...

Product Specifications

When Brave's village is attacked by the evil Shaman Wendigo, he has no choice but to leave the sanctuary of his home and set off on a quest of vital importance. His voyage will not be easy, but it's a journey he must take; a journey fraught with danger and revelation, a journey, which he must complete. He must find the Spirit Dancer. For Brave's search to be successful, he must become a skilled tracker, swimmer and climber and excel when using the longbow and tomahawk to overcome the many enemies that stand in his way. He'll also need to master magical spells and mystical abilities and learn to control numerous means of transport, including the canoe and the buffalo. Fortunately, Brave's travels will not always be alone; the Spirit Eagle is his closest ally and will assist him whenever possible. Also, by learning the ancient art of mimicry Brave will gain the power to attract and lure the animals of the forest to further help him on his quest. So, it is time for the adventure to begin. The path is long and many different environments must be overcome - forests, desert plains, icy lands and raging rivers lie ahead; perhaps Brave's quest will even take him into the spirit world.
