Gun (PlayStation 2)

Life in the Old West must have been gritty, violent, and short if it was anything like Gun, a new Western-themed action adventure from Tony Hawk series developer Neversoft. Featuring an open-ended environment that you can traverse on foot or on...

Review of "Gun" For the PlayStation 2 - Wild West Action

Gun gives you the feel or playing a Clint Eastwood Western. Sometimes you're on the right side of the law, and some times you aren't, but regardless you get the job done.

How the Wild West was wonderful

Gunfights done to perfection ; Impressive, cinematic story ; Enjoyable side quests

It's short and none too replayable ; Difficult quests unlock too soon ; Strong words not for the wee ones

Sizzling gunfights, white-knuckle horseback riding, lots of unflinching stares, slutty barmaids, and whisky - not the kind of stuff that usually works well with a gamepad attached, but the action/adventure Gun perfectly bottles all those classic Old...

If Quentin Tarrantino ever directed a Western for Short Attention Span Theatre, it would probably resemble Gun, the Wild West shooter that attempts to take a Grand Theft Auto-style feel to the John Wayne era. You play as Colton White, a quiet gunman...

Great voice cast, including Kris Kristopherson ; Solid main storyline ; Horse-riding combat is plenty of fun, especially trampling your foes

Game overdoses on cussing and ultra-violence, making it lose dramatic impact ; Very short length, even with sidequests ; Sidequests are nowhere near as well-done as the main storyline

Gun is intense and packed with violence and action, but it is extremely brief and tends to overdose on the M-rated excesses.

Sometimes less is more. What a great saying. At first, I was unsure what to rate this game, and I was asking fellow reviewers on the forums what they thought they would give the game. I just couldn't agree with Vyolynce on the forums when he told me...

If you're into westerns, especially the modern, HBO-flavored ones with their "brutal honesty" thinly disguising the ratings-grabbing blatant brutality, then you'll love Gun for as long as it lasts. Which isn't that long. Which is too bad. Still...

Over the past year (or so), gamers have been subjected to a number of Western-themed games. Remember Darkwatch? That was a Western with vampires. Spooky ones.

Gun is, at the end of the day, merely a light snack. The free-roaming feel of the Old West writ small, this is a game you can finish, complete, and conquer within the space of an average rental. But, on that count, rent this game! The voice acting is...

Gun Review

Neversoft's latest offering diverges greatly from their history with the Tony Hawk franchise. Gun is a wild western that puts you in the role of Colton White as he hunts for the man who murdered his father. This is a gritty action game with plenty of...

Great wild west environments and story; excellent voice acting and dialogue; nice third-person action

Glitches that directly affect gameplay; some game design issues

If you can get into a gritty western on par with the greatest gritty westerns around (think of Unforgiven and Deadwood), then you need to play Gun. There is no other game out that brings the west to life so vividly, and it is a welcome alternative to...
