As mentioned earlier, KillZone is based in the future, during a time when planet colonisation has become a reality. Each colony is slighting different in some way, due to the inhabitants changing to suit their environment. The majority of these...

Halo killer. Halo killer. Halo killer. This is the term used many times by Sony reps to describe Killzone. This is the true error of the game. While on its own, Killzone is a beautiful game, definitely the best shooter on the PS2, trying to compare it...

Killzone - PS2 review at Thunderbolt Games

When the first few screenshots of Killzone leaked out of the Guerrilla headquarters early last year, muted gasps could be heard in the offices of video game journalists up and down the land. The shots were quite stunning and bowled us over, mainly for...

Killzone Review for the PS2

Taking as much heat as it packs.

Interesting backstory; Realistic camera motion; / - Basic, linear shooter

Graphical bugs; Spotty A.I

Killzone sets the general mood well with the sounds of crackling grit and falling sand tastefully dappling the musical score. Your squad members' shouts are as well acted as they are repetitive. "I'm taking heavy fire!" is meaningless from the start...

There was a lot of hype surrounding this game, mostly created by PlayStation 2 owners. There was talk that this game would be a “Halo-killer.” I'm not going to waste time here. It is not.

Level design ; Environments add luster to the experience ; Online/Offline multiplayer

Nothing new ; Controls not tight enough ; Overall feel of mediocrity

Killzone is a decent FPS, but it lacks polish in every aspect, save maybe level design. A little extra time spent could have made this game shine. As I said, the overlying theme of Killzone is "nothing new." It's not a bad game; there's just nothing...

Full of sound and fury except it's quiet and not all that angry.

But the other shortcomings of Killzone become harder to forgive. When you're against real people and not mindless computer enemies, it's a lot more frustrating to get hung up on some random piece of scenery that serves no purpose. The reloading...

Killzone on Playstation 2

Maybe reviewing this after playing Halo 2 was a bad idea…

In Supply Drop, the first team to pick up supplies from the battlefield and return them to their respective base wins. This is usually over very fast due to a lack of rounds and close proximity of supplies to the bases. In Domination you must take over...

The one genre that the PS2 has never really had a solid title to compete with the Xbox is in the First Person Shooter genre, which has remained in

Killzone was supposed to be SCEA’s “Halo Killer” but never got anywhere near where it was intended to. The multiplayer is solid but the offline play just doesn’t carry its fair end of the deal. Unless you’re a PS2 owner dying for a new FPS...

Product Specifications

Years ago, the success of planetary colonization resulted in the human settlement of several planets. The majority of these colonies have aligned to form the ISA. However, a ruthless, militaristic, separatists fraction known as the Helghast has distanced itself while secretly planning to scale an all-out war. Killzone takes place during the initial Helghast blitzkrieg of the nearby colony of Vekta. When Vekta City's orbital defenses mysteriously fail, the Helghast land and deploy their troops rapidly and with ease. As the planetary defense forces are overrun and scattered into the city your first objective as an ISA member is to escort a high-ranking official to an evacuation point.
