Ratchet & Clank: Up Your Arsenal (PS2)

Putting out a follow-up every year is the sort of crunch-time madness that's usually reserved for sports offerings. But for the third year running, Insomniac Games has put together an entry in its excellent Ratchet & Clank series. This installment,...

Ratchet & Clank (PlayStation 2)

The platform genre is well-worn territory. The 2D platformer was driven completely into the ground back in the 16-bit era, and we're starting to see an awful lot of repetition in the 3D platformer arena, as well. Most 3D platformers are full of...

See? Furries aren't all that bad.

There isn't anything wrong with Ratchet & Clank: Up Your Arsenal as far as design goes. Most of the faults I find with the game have to do with the art direction, which I never liked in the first place. But it says a lot for the quality of the...

Ratchet & Clank: Up Your Arsenal

I tore into my copy of the new Ratchet and Clank game on Christmas morning with the sort of glee that I once reserved only for the recognition of the Decepticon icon on a partly unwrapped Starscream Transformer. It had been sitting there on the shelf,...

Action done right. You don't get better shooting fun than this ; Awesome carryover bonuses for people who have played before ; Online play? Yes please ; I'll say it again: cute fluffy ducks which lay flaming, explosive, homing eggs

Levels are a bit linear, less lively than before ; Many of the weapons and gadgets don't seem as cool as in Going Commando ; The story is a bit... what was I doing? Oh, right... distracted

Loved the present, but the wrapper was a bit faded. One has to wonder where the magic went when one compares the layout of these levels.

Ratchet & Clank: Up Your Arsenal

What can you say about a franchise that consistently has provided solid gameplay, enjoyable humor and amusing characters? Classic is the term that comes to mind, which easily sums up the Ratchet and Clank series. Harking back to classic platforming...

While these comments are somewhat up for dispute, there is one thing that isn't up in the air: Up Your Arsenal is a phenomenal game and a great addition to the Ratchet and Clank franchise. With an expanded number of weapons, a humorous plotline and a...

More weapons than ever and, honestly, what else matters?

The online mode of UYA is probably the most welcome new feature. Games are customizable for different maps and total number of players. The game types are a little limited, but include the basics of capture the flag, deathmatch and siege, which puts...

Ratchet & Clank: Up Your Arsenal

Certainly the most ambitious installment in the series, but is it the best? Our verdict lies within.

It doesn't top Going Commando's single player experience, but Up Your Arsenal is nonetheless a fine addition to a hallmark PS2 series.

If only they could all be this good!

One thing I haven't mentioned much about is the online multi-player aspect of RaC: UYA and I saved the best for last. There is nothing quite like being handed your rump on a silver platter by a twelve-year old, but you Halo 2 people already know what...

Gosh, all I can say is that SCEA has been rolling their three hit platformers and milking them for all their worth. With already two editions in the

Insomniac Games has done it again, giving fans of the series another game that they can with out a doubt go out a pick up. This game offers now both a solid single and multiplayer modes that really turns into a very enjoyable game. If you’re a fan of...

Ratchet & Clank: Up Your Arsenal Review for the PS2

Ratcheting up the fun.

Great gun collection; Leading to fun, strategic combat; Consistently funny; Cool leveling-up system; Solid multiplayer

Still overly linear level design; Doesn’t do anything very new

Really the only problem with Up Your Arsenal is that it doesn'tdo anything new so much as merely refine the heck out of its past. While thisthird outing does offer plenty of replay bonuses and challenges, a less linearadventure with a branching story...
