SOCOM: U.S. Navy Seals

I can remember the first time I logged onto the internet with a console. It was the fall of 2000 and with a fresh copy of NFL 2K1 in my...

SOCOM U.S. Navy SEALs Combined Assault Review for the PS2

Changing the course.

Beefy campaign; Online co-op; Choices

Terrible A.I.; No offline co-op; No new online versus content

With the console war heating up, the generals at GR assigned your humble correspondent the task of facing down a Playstation regular and one of the most militant games on the market: SOCOM U.S. Navy SEALs: Combined Assault. As I laced up my boots and...

SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Combined Assault

More of an expansion than a full sequel, we can see why it's not called SOCOM 4.

SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Combined Assault

The Navy SEALs invade the PS2 for another go 'round as the multiplayer hit pulls in for its fourth tour of duty.

Lots of fun multiplayer action; "Crosstalk" interaction with Fireteam Bravo 2

AI is nowhere near as good as it should be; graphics look a bit rugged and outdated

SOCOM 3: U.S. Navy Seals Review for the PS2

SOCOM all ye faithful.

Smooth 32-player battles; Vehicles!; Tons of guns; One of the best online PS2 games

One of the worst offline; Drab graphics

So let me be perfectly clear: if you do not have online access, SOCOM 3 is not worth buying. Sure, all the weapons and new vehicles are present in the single-player game and running over mentally challenged terrorists or blowing them to smithereens...

SOCOM 3 U.S. Navy Seals

Ever since the Playstation 2 made its transition to online gaming, one of the games to help them really gain a solid fan base was SOCOM: US Navy

The game that SOCOM fans have been waiting for is here, in SOCOM III: US Navy Seals, as the developers have done enough great stuff in this game to warrant a must have purchase. With the expansion of the environments, the ability to use vehicles and a...

SOCOM 3: U.S. Navy SEALs

Sony and Zipper Interactive team up to give armchair generals another taste of SEAL action.

Everything a SOCOM fanboy could ask for; little online tweaks; massive levels across multiple terrain; vehicles and swimming spice up online gameplay

Vehicles are at times awkward to drive and use; dimwitted A.I.; usual online shenanigans will turn off newcomers; single-player game okay, not great

Zipper Interactive and SCEA deliver one hell of a sequel.

With lots o' goodies to unlock, a solid single-player experience and robust online support, SOCOM II is a fantastic way to show off Sony's online offering. It lacks any of the faults of EA Sports' attempted Nation gimmick, yet offers nearly as much...

The PS2's best online action title gets a sequel. And guess what? The best reason to own a network adapter just got much better.

Excellent online multiplayer modes; no current cheating issues; improved single-player missions; superb control; great level design; great voice recognition

Graphically still not on par with PS2's best; difficult learning curve; headset required for full experience; nearly completely overshadows predecessor
