Syphon Filter: The Omega Strain

Create your own agent and become a fresh recruita poorly equipped one, too, since the first thing you need to do is steal a terrorist's gun. You can unlock over 100 weapons as you accomplish various objectives and progress through a very deep story...

Syphon Filter: The Omega Strain (PlayStation 2)

The Syphon Filter series started out extremely strong, and it quickly went downhill from there. The original game was a solid third-person shooter with an interesting, if unoriginal premise. You, as super secret agent, Gabe Logan, were out to get to...

Syphon Filter: The Omega Strain

To paraphrase an old slogan, "You can't keep a good biotoxin down." Five years ago, SCEA introduced PlayStation owners to the deadly Syphon Filter virus, an engineered weapon so destructive that it could turn targeted areas into uninhabitable...

What Omega Strain inevitably turns out to be is a mixed bag of decent ideas that aren't fully implemented. The off and online modes of play are good concepts, but unfortunately have enough hiccups to make either one completely enjoyable. Fans of the...

Syphon Filter: The Omega Strain

Syphon Filter: The Omega Strain is actually the fourth in a series but a first timer on PS2 and an attempted leap to the "next level" of gameplay.

Syphon Filter: The Omega Strain

Sony sets a new standard with the latest Syphon Filter title.

On the flip side, there are some things that TOS does right. The game's packaging is of exceptional quality, with a dual printed cover that reveals some hints should the player remove it from the game case. Character creation is also handled quite...

Straining omegas has never been so much fun, chortles PSM2. Fair enough, but what about the game?

Syphon Filter: The Omega Strain Review for the PS2

Time to change the filter.

Decent co-op fun; Cool unlockables

Bad single-player balance; Weak gameplay and control; Subpar delivery

Making matters worse are the respawning enemies. This gives the multiplayer game some life as it keeps teammates working together - one player will keep the enemies busy, while the other player completes the objective. But if you're playing alone,...

Syphon Filter: The Omega Strain

What would have been the last of the major games shown off by Sony at E3 2003 if not for Gran Turismo 4, Syphon Filter: Omega Strain finally got released for the PS2 after a number of delays. The series, which was one of the few 989 studios games to be...

Decent action sequences ; Online mode ; Sound

Bad controls ; Repetitive and unoriginal

What is it with franchises not letting you play as the main character of the franchise? First Metal Gear Solid 2, and now Syphon Filter - kind of pointless to make a hero and then not let the player play as them.

Syphon Filter: The Omega Strain

Most of us remember the first Syphon Filter game for the PlayStation; by far the best game of the series. Initially labeled as a Metal Gear Solid

Syphon Filter: Omega Strain is one of those games that did not live up to the hype that its fan base put out for it. I am not saying that the game is bad, but it was just a disappointment to see the game not reach its full potential. So for those of...

Syphon Filter: The Omega Strain

The fourth game in the Syphon Filter series heads online for the first time in its debut appearance on Playstation 2. Can it compete with its offline predecessors?

Engaging & exciting multiplayer content; robust character creation options; huge levels; tons of hours of possible gameplay

Frustrating single-player; respawning enemies; bland graphics; uninspired music
