WWE: Smackdown vs Raw

It's time to admit it: when THQ took over the WWE license in the waning days of PSone, their initial offering, WWE Smackdown, was ham-fisted, rushed and even a bit embarrassing. Yet, give the company credit; along with developer Yukes, the team kept at...

New online mode is great – but only if you have broadband ; Storyline mode much improved; but still only one season long ; Voicework is nicely done, even if some of the personalities give dry readings

No matter who you play through as, the season mode has the same storyline, with a few branches, every single time ; For some reason, the wrestler you play through as never delivers their own lines

Smackdown vs. Raw is good enough to make you wonder what THQ and Yukes could accomplish with a couple more go-rounds; but with the current litigation between WWE and them, it looks like the license could soon be up for grabs again, making it a moot point.

This latest Smackdown title will surely please its growing list of fans. The graphics are absolutely gorgeous and the gameplay has seen some small subtleties that go a hell of a long way. And while the online play could have been better, but let's face...

How could this happen? THQ, Jakks Pacific, and Yukes Future Media Creators had it made with last year's phenomenal WWE SmackDown! Here Comes the Pain! It had everything a wrestling fan could ever want in a game: tons of moves, wrestlers,...

If you want the best all around WWE game released on this generation of consoles, and haven't played it already, I suggest going out and getting yourself WWE SmackDown! Here Comes the Pain; it's a better game, overall (more wrestlers, better Season...

Yuke's and THQ's latest edition of the popular SmackDown wrestling game series gets a major overhaul and online play!

WWE SmackDown! vs RAW is a wonderful new edition to the SmackDown! family, serving up slick graphics, vastly enhanced gameplay, and lots of other bells and whistles that make the whole package shine. Online play is a bit of a disappointment, but better...

Laying the Smackdown until your ass is red Raw, this is, er... more of the same, asks PSM2

WWE SmackDown! vs. Raw

Both SmackDown and Raw brand extensions of WWE have their pros and cons, much like this game when compared to last year's excellent Here Comes The Pain.

Play the heel or face; online component; hear both announcers and Superstars

Online is bare-bones and laggy; heavyweight holes in roster

WWE Smackdown! vs. RAW Review

It may be the first WWE title to go online, but this year's Smackdown isn't all it's cracked up to be.

Nitpicks aside, Smackdown Vs. Raw is the best wrestling game of 2004 and a welcome addition to the series, but it isn't a necessary purchase if you own last year's. THQ did what it could to keep things fresh, and for the most part the new features...

Players can create their own characters and lead them through an authentic WWE storyline, to become league heroes or despised villains, as THQ's popular professional wrestling series returns to the ring. Once again developed by Yuke's Co., 2004's SmackDow
