Ace Combat: Assault Horizon (PlayStation 3)

In Ace Combat: Assault Horizon, the last action you take is not to participate in a thrilling dogfight, or to victoriously soar through the clouds in an F-14 Tomcat. No. The very last thing you do in this airborne action game is to press a button to...

Ace Combat: Assault Horizon Review

Ace Combat: Assault Horizon, while not especially unique, provides a lot of fun especially during the DFM moments both on and offline. However, most of the game is taken straight from Modern Warfare and its simple controls risks alienating hardcore fans o

Aces High.

Awesome jet fighter action with stupendously great models; military shooter-influenced design; innovative dogfighting and ground attack mechanics; great-looking and highly detailed plane models; comprehensive multiplayer offering; abundant content

Gameplay is ultimately shallow and somewhat repetitive by its arcade nature; long-winded and tiresome missions that wear out their ability to generate tension; timed escort missions can be frustrating; clunky helicopter controls; terrible screenwriting

Great mission diversity ; Action is intense ; Online modes are fun ; Series feels fresh again

Missions are sometimes too long ; Frustrating objectives ; Story is forgettable

Ace Combat: Assault Horizon Review

Ace Combat: Assault Horizon goes for a more accessible approach, but does it come at the cost of alienating fans?

I’m not the biggest Ace Combat fan, so maybe that’s why the changes in Assault Horizon intrigued me. It’s not as well polished as previous games, but this new step is more interesting than if it had been yet another Ace Combat game. Dogfights are...

Ace Combat: Assault Horizon

The combat flight sim genre is in a pretty good state these days. While PC owners can enjoy the IL-2 Sturmovik games for that excellent full sim experience, console owners have still seen a slow but steady flow of arcade air combat games in recent years.

It might not be the perfect console arcade combat flight sim experience, but Ace Combat: Assault Horizon remains a treat for any fan of the genre or fans of stupidly awesome looking air combat action. Where it breaks with tradition, it injects a shot...

Review: Ace Combat Assault Horizon Tries Too Hard to be Call of Duty

Ace Combat meets the modern military shooter, and the results aren't pretty.

It's impossible to deny the influence of Call of Duty. Every game publisher has analysts and consultants whispering in their ear: "Make your game more like COD and your Metascore and sales will shoot through the roof." It's clear that Namco Bandai...
