Band Hero

If you wanna be my lover, you gotta get with my track pack. The premise behind Band Hero is exactly what is going to get it the most criticism from...

Party play ; Importing option ; Sleek design ; DS connectivity

Limited audience ; Not much different from GH5

A great entry point for a younger crowd, Band Hero is a tamer Top 40 rhythm experience.

Minor alterations to the game make it more accessible, the whole game has received a pop music makeover which is better suited for the PG crowd

Silly edits to songs, owners of Guitar Hero 5 will find Band Hero to be little more than a pop-flavored track pack

If you are looking for a solid entry point into the rhythm game craze or have some youngsters running around that you dont exactly want to expose to some of the more mature music in other rhythm games Band Hero is a solid choice. It's selection of...

Band Hero continues Activision's shameless milking of a genre we never thought we'd get so burned out on so quickly.

As good as the series has ever looked. It's not the kind of thing you'll claim can't be done on non-HD systems, but that doesn't lessen the style or execution one bit.

Band Hero

Finally, a Guitar Hero for the "tweens with no taste" market

It's a re-skinned GH 5 ; Party Play mode is slick ; Top 40 song overload

It's GH 5 with pop and pink ; A bit too easy on Expert ; Top 40 song overload

The bottom line is Band Hero is going to be an awesome game to those who happen to fall neatly within its target demographic. However, the developers missed the opportunity to make Band Hero stand out as a unique offshoot of the main franchise with...

A little too Swift with the Taylor

Band Hero is, in many ways, the first of its type: it's a music game that offers the same ambitious selection of features as the industry blockbusters preceding it, except with a unique focus on top-40/pop musical content and the accommodation of...

Band Hero is a solid deal

If looked at as a music expansion disc (one that can be played entirely on its own), Band Hero is a solid deal. Just don't think of it as an opportunity to expand on the Guitar Hero franchise with something fresh - that, it does not do.

Band Hero

Beneath the taint of bubblegum pop, Band Hero delivers where it counts.

Cleverly selected and distributed track list; great selection of classic tunes; surprisingly challenging on Hard and Expert

Fundamentally identical to Guitar Hero 5; when the track list stumbles, it stumbles badly

Band Hero Review

Band Hero is an entertaining all-ages rock machine, but it definitely feels like a repeat performer.

We aren't dismissing Band Hero completely. If you haven't played the latest Guitar Hero or are looking for something that all ages of players can get into, it's a respectable choice. However, its mostly flat song list and almost complete lack of...

Band Hero

Band Hero makes fake plastic rock easy to pick up, family friendly, and a whole lot of fun.

Party Play mode is welcoming and fun ; All songs available from the start ; Slick visuals ; Jamming in the music studio is fun

Fewer songs than Guitar Hero 5 ; Limited song downloading and importing functionality ; Vocalists need controller to activate star power ; Trimmed-out lyrics aren't particularly inappropriate
