BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger Review

Some more fighting game goodness.

BlazBlue takes a cue from SFII Turbo HD Remix, and uses a quarter match format. Up to five people can be in a lobby, decide who fights first and can customize the match rules. This truly captures the feel of playing in an arcade with other people,...

Just Blaze

BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger is one of the most promising new franchises to hit fighting in years. Here's why.

The voice acting will make or break things for some (though at least there's JP voices to switch over to), and the wailing guitars of Arc System Works' other titles is here, it just doesn't sound quite as fresh as the visuals and gameplay.

BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger

BlazBlue is a worthy successor to Guilty Gear. It's also a fast-paced, colorful fighting game with a lot to offer.

Colorful, well-animated characters and backgrounds ; Surprisingly deep gameplay and totally unique characters ; Excellent online performance ; Plenty of offline content ; Welcome home, Guilty Gear fans

Only 12 characters ; Loud, gaudy, and potentially confusing for beginners

BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger (PS3)

I'm a fighting-game fan, big time. Give me four buttons and the combos therein, and I'll be happy as a clam. From the latest version of Fight Night to some horribly inaccurate, Wii-Remote-controlled sci-fi fighter, I'm there -- at least, until I find...

Anime Expo 2009

Neoseeker editors report on the highlights of this year's Anime Expo at the Los Angeles Convention Center. Panels with Trigun creator Yasuhiro Nightow, Guilty Gear father Daisuke Ishiwatari, and special events' coverage.

Returning to the LACC this year had its perks, aside from a more spacious exhibit hall. Attendees were not packed so tightly together, and cosplayers had a lot of space for photo shoots, with the two lobbies acting as gathering spots for cosplayers to...

When I read the "word" BlazBlue, I immediately hear Bill Cosby in my head babbling a "Blazem Blazblue Blippity BLOP". Did Bill Cosby ever actually say anything like that, or i...

BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger

The first must-have old-school 2D fighter of the year

Feels reassuringly familiar ; Tons of imagination ; Clever balancing

Not the most technical fighter ; May feel too familiar ; No swanky 3D graphics

With fighters and Gallery items to unlock, a progressive character-specific Story Mode (told via static dialogue scenes, but funny despite that), and lag-free online play in both ranked and just-for-kicks matches with players from around the world,...

BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger

Guilty Gear's spiritual successor reboots our 2D fighting game thought patterns.

Very unique fighting system; beautiful (if odd) character designs; killer online play

Huge learning curve -- even for seasoned 2D fighting fans

BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger - PS3 review at Thunderbolt Games

Ragna the Bloodedge has a problem. He's just arrived in town, but they're already after him. Everyone. Soldiers, vigilantes, and even a few heroes. You can't really blame them, though. When you're systematically wiping out the government - especially a...
