Borderlands 2

The recipe for the success of 2009's Borderlands was pretty simple in retrospect. Take the mechanics of the ever-popular genre of first-person shooters and blend them together with the scope, leveling, and loot of a massive online RPG that speaks to...

Borderlands 2 is a sequel that aims to give players more of what they loved in the original and to smooth out the things that didn’t go over quite so well the first time. If any criticism can be leveled at Borderlands 2, it’s that it isn’t going to...

Borderlands 2

If I feel a pang of melancholy upon completing a game, it's usually because the characters were rich enough or the story was compelling enough that I didn't want to say goodbye. You would think this wouldn't happen with the first Borderlands, since it...

Borderlands 2 Review

Stellar writing and a host of small improvements help Borderlands 2 stand tall on the shoulders of its predecessor.

A ton of great mission writing and dialogue ; Enticing loot and experience rewards ; Intriguing skill trees ; Rich, inviting gameworld

Spoken messages sometimes interrupt each other ; One character ability is not substantially different from the core gunplay ; Inelegant split-screen save system

Intangible rewards are all well and good, but a huge part of the Borderlands formula is loot, and Borderlands 2 does not disappoint. Guns, shields, grenade mods, class mods, and relics all offer different ways to enhance your combat effectiveness....

I didn't really like Borderlands. It was too empty, the majority of those gazillion guns seemed useless, the story felt nonexistent in some places, and the role-playing elements weren't quite fleshed-out enough. But now there's Borderlands 2 and it's...

Cannot... contain... the badassery.

More improvements than you can shake your fist at; Speedier movement and loading times; Retains tongue-in-cheek humor; Added abilities for weapons and accessories; New slag element encourages teamwork; Badass tokens and Claptrap storage works across...

Designed more as Borderlands 1.5; Issues with "fight for your life" state; What happened to the zoom stat

Though Borderlands 2 doesn't shoot for the stars, it does more than enough to retain our most awesome recommendation. As long as you have several friends who can join your party, there's no way you will be disappointed. (And if you need some...

Borderlands: The Secret Armory of General Knoxx

More content than most full-priced games. It is always amazing to me now that nearly five months after its release, we are still talking about Borderlands like it just hit...

Tons of new content ; Upped level cap ; Solid story ; Plenty of new missions

No quick travel ; Could be the final expansion

It is always amazing to me now that nearly five months after its release, we are still talking about Borderlands like it just hit shelves. The numerous additions of DLC to the mix has really kept the game in my rotation since it was released. The...

Borderlands: Mad Moxxi's Underdome Riot

If Borderlands was a breath of fresh air and its first piece of add-on action, The Zombie Island of Dr. Ned, was too much more of the same, then Mad Moxxi's Underdome Riot should be a hoot, right? Due to it being quite different from the main game and...

Borderlands: The Secret Armory of General Knoxx

First off, let's just not talk about The Underdome add-on for Borderlands. Only the most avid trophy/achievement addict should buy it. The best thing about it was Moxxi, and she's in The Secret Armory of General Knoxx too.
