de Blob 2 (PlayStation 3)

The blob known as Blob made his debut in de Blob when it landed on the Wii in 2008, introducing the world to a funky new hero whose ability to absorb color and spread it around was put to great use in that charming platformer. Now, Blob is back, but...

De Blob 2

As you progress throughout the game, you'll collect 'Inspiration Points' which can be used to improve Blob's attributes. Pretty much everything about Blob can be improved, from the number of lives he carries, to the quantity of pain he can absorb, and...

Stunning visuals; Hilarious cutscenes; Interactive soundtrack

Slightly repetitive; Excessive hand-holding; Very similar to the original game

The move does, nevertheless, come in handy during the game's myriad side-scrolling sections – which prove to be the greatest addition to the franchise so far. Triggered whenever Blob squeezes himself into a cave, sewer or occupied landmark, these...

Loads of fun and charm, new co-op mode

Not much challenge, jokes are usually for the young set

Before I sat down to play de Blob 2 for the PS3 I remember thinking to myself how much the video game marketplace has changed over the years. A game

My hope after playing through de Blob 2 is that it’s not overlooked like its predecessor. Although not a perfect platformer, de Blob 2 is a game that reminded me of experiences I had when I was first just getting into video games over twenty years ago....

Great jazz soundtrack ; Colorful environments ; Charming characters

Timed gameplay ; Poor Move integration ; Inconsistent design

The original de Blob is one of those games that if you played it, you have fond memories and wish there were a sequel. If you didn’t, you likely are not aware and, if someone mentioned it, you probably only recall it as that “blob game on the Wii”....

In living color.

Huge, varied levels, cheery atmosphere, awesome 2D sections, hilarious cut scenes

Troublesome targeting, inflexible save system, co-op mostly throwaway

I'm glad de Blob got a second chance, as I really enjoyed the original and games where you actively make the world better, rather than prevent it from falling into calamity are rare these days. The upbeat atmosphere, colorful levels and absolutely...

de Blob 2

The world of de Blob 2 is a colorful and unique one full of wonderful animations and a ton of personality. There's really nothing else like it in gaming.

As of this writing, there are no cheats available for de Blob 2, but half the fun of the game is found when you're searching for hidden missions and know, without the clock.

User-friendly, easy to play; Addicting; Truly for “all-ages

De Blob 2 has an infectious feel-good vibe, but some frustrations cramp this platformer's funky style.

Restoring color to the world is rewarding ; Great visuals and music create a joyous atmosphere ; Smart, entertaining cutscenes ; Combat is often good simple fun

Failure can result in having to replay long sections or entire levels ; Targeting system can be frustrating when facing diverse groups of enemies ; Some repetitive level design

Controlling Blob is fun, thanks to responsive controls and a mostly great targeting ability that lets Blob stomp switches, enemies, paintbots, and the like with unerring accuracy. Holding down a trigger targets the nearest targetable object, and the...

This blob's heavy on the charm, light on fun.

Fair warning: de Blob 2 is ruthlessly adorable. The game's frequently hilarious cutscenes have an almost Pixar-like quality to them, and its character designs rival Kirby's Epic Yarn in raw cuteness. Even Blob's fascist oppressors look like they just...
