Fuse Review

I distinctly remember Ted Price lauding the single-player campaign in Fuse. He said Insomniac's new third-person, four-player co-op title is plenty of fun to play solo, primarily due to top-notch ally AI, a decent story and plenty of environmental...

Can Insomniac fuse their magic into an all new franchise for an alien audience, or does it all go up in smoke?

An online shooter full of hi-tech alien hardware, robots, and mini-black holes sucking up enemy soldiers...

So, FUSE could have been awesome, but it's not. Graphics and sound are fine. Firefights are intense and you can take out enemies with stealth and melee kills. At times the story tries to give the characters some emotion and depth, but fails, and...

Fuse Review

Fuse is what happens when someone had a great idea that got greenlighted in a meeting 4 years ago, before executives and VPs stripped it down during development until there was nothing left but a shell.

The Xenotech weaponry helps to mix things up a little; Co-op with actual friends is mindless fun, for a while

The friendly AI is atrociously bad; Combat is a long, repetitive and pointless stream of brain dead enemies ; The story is full of forgettable, bad-guy-doing-bad-things cliches; There is not a lick of inventive or innovative thought nor risk or humour...

Neat array of unique weapons ; Combining skills with friends is gratifying ; Some nice visual flair and punchy sound effects

Friendly AI is barely helpful ; Solo play is fairly dull ; Echelon mode is impossible to enjoy alone

Still, the challenge of Echelon is a welcome one for folks looking to flex their skills beyond the bounds of the campaign, and if you've got some willing allies, you can definitely have a good time. And that's pretty much true for the whole game. Fuse...
