Killzone 2 Review

Another "Halo-killer", but this one actually lives up to the hype.

In the end this game surpassed my expectations by a mile and I can't get enough of it. It delivered every aspect that makes a game great and succeeds in every category. Go out and buy this game and get ready for a lot of fun.

Killzone 2

I've been itching to play Killzone 2 ever since I saw that infamous E3 2005 trailer showing what developers Guerilla Games had in store for the then-announced PlayStation 3. It was a benchmark that was going to be scrutinized for the next few years....

With all that being said, Killzone 2 has a lot to going for it. Replay value is enormous with the in-game collections, trophy support, and online stat tracking. I'm not going to say if Killzone 2 is a "Halo Killer," it's more of a unique game that...

Killzone 3

The Killzone series has always been billed as Sony's answer to Halo. Whatever they were doing, Sony was going to do it better with Killzone. With three titles now out of the gate, can it be declared a success? Killzone does many things right; the...

Killzone 3 will not disappoint fans of the series. Those who know what to expect are going to get what they want, albeit with "minor" flaws in the design and presentation. Why they chose to limit the co-op to an offline split screen design most will...

Killzone 2 - Game Review

The sequel to the highly controversial game, Killzone; Killzone 2 is a first-person shooter developed for the PS3. The sequel follows where Killzone and Killzone: Liberation left off. Originally the game was announced at the E3 2005 and released in 2009.

Guerrilla Games' gorgeously dark and brutal first-person shooter Killzone 2 provides one of the most enjoyable multiplayer experiences around. The PlayStation 3 exclusive's single-player campaign is rather tasty too, if you enjoy the sweet taste of...

Killzone 2

Trust, they say, has to be earned. If you were to ask gamers today whether or not Sony has earned theirs, chances are, most of the "no" answers will have been directly influenced by a certain E3 debacle. For those of you who don't know – and, honestly,...

An interesting, emotional story ; As visually impressive as promised ; Dynamic and rewarding multiplayer

marred by unlikable characters ; except when it is loading in-game ; that perhaps advances too quickly

From my experience, Killzone 2's multiplayer structure is somewhat unique. Although there are a variety of modes – including what are essentially capture the flag, assassination and deathmatch – they can all be played in one session. When you go to...

Do you remember back in the day when the Killzone 2 trailer was debuted by Sony before the PlayStation 3 was released? Everyone's jaw dropped at how gorgeous the early makeup of the game looked, but as time wore on and information was leaked about the...

Killzone 2 is an awesome game that will grab hold of you and not let go for quite some time. The gameplay is fast and furious, the atmosphere is rich and deep, and all around the single and multiplayer features are fantastic. So many bells and whistles...

Killzone 2 Review

For many PS3 owners, their console's library of exclusive must-haves begins and ends with Metal Gear Solid 4. More dedicated Sony fans may also have some combination of Resistance 2, Uncharted, Ratchet and Clank, Heavenly Sword and LittleBigPlanet...

I’ve heard some other critics cite Killzone 2’s multi-player component as its real draw. While I certainly agree the online options, which support up to 32 players with varying upgradeable classes, has eight maps—some as high as they are wide, offering...

Product Specifications

In and out within a month, they said. Their weapons no match for our military might. Predicted moderate to low resistance. Enemy morale at an all-time low. They couldn't have been more wrong. Welcome to Helghan. Two years after the Helghast assault on Vekta, the ISA are taking the fight to Helghan. Their goal: to capture the Helghast leader, Emperor Visari, and bring the Helghast war machine to a halt. You assume the role of Sev, a battle-hardened veteran and a member of the special forces unit known as the Legion. For Sev and his squad, the invasion of Helghan is just beginning. Tasked with securing Pyrrhus, the Capital City, they quickly discover that the Helghast are a formidable enemy on their home planet. Not only have they adjusted to the planet's hostile conditions, they have also harnessed a source of power they can now use against the ISA. Sev and his squad aren't just fighting the enemy forces - their fiercest opponent is the planet itself. Between Killzone's unique visual style, the power of Playstation 3, the use of EDGE tools and the proprietary technology developed by Guerrilla, the game promises to impress players with its benchmark visuals, smooth character animation, detailed, effect-laden environments and realtime cutscenes. The Deferred rendering technology will present a world that is beautifully lit, with ambient occlusion and multiple shadow casting light sources bringing out the highly detailed environments and character animations. With true next-gen audio the player is even further immersed in the world, supporting 7.1 surround and audio occlusion with wave tracing. The player will not only notice the difference between indoor and outdoor but also experience sound and music that are dynamic and contextual. Studio grade special effects will provide unprecedented visual fidelity. With full screen anti-aliasing, motion blur, internal lens reflections and depth based color grading the picture will be sharp, smooth and full of depth.
