Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance

Rising started life as Metal Gear Solid Rising, a melon slicing simulator by Kojima Productions, which never managed to actually become a proper game. The current Metal Gear Rising is the result of the project being picked up by action game masters...

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance

Anyway you look at it, Revengeance is an undeniably silly, somewhat stupid subtitle for the latest chapter in the Metal Gear saga. But Rising doesn't want to be the new Solid. It wants to put you in firm control of the absurd, to feel the adrenaline...

Hiring Platinum to resuscitate Metal Gear Rising was the smartest move Kojima Productions could have ever made. Platinum identified that a world subject to infinite player Ginsu-knifing is a world without obstruction. Revengeance revives its signature...

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance Review

When people say “stealth isn't fun,” I can only conclude that they want something like Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance. And you know, despite the judgmental subjectivity of the aforementioned statement, there are indeed many different kinds of fun to be...

The Ugly: “You know what? Now I don’t want your damn special freakin’ data. Now I just want you to die.”

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance Review

I've experienced years of frustration with Metal Gear Solid. Despite acknowledging the series' brilliance, the stealth-or-be-killed gameplay wasn't designed for players who want the instant gratification of eliminating bad guys. This is where Metal...

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance- PS3

In an impressive show of style and technical brilliance, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance takes a turn for the brutal and rarely looks back.

The fast-paced combat excites your reflexes ; Depth and accessibility coexist in harmony ; Decimating environments is a guilty pleasure that never gets old ; Raiden's intriguing personal story justifies his return to the spotlight

Occasional camera issues can be distracting ; Most environmental palettes lack variety ; The predictably political plot fails to excite

Precisely controlling Raiden's katana plays an important role when attempting to remove individual limbs, an optional yet rewarding tactic. Reducing your enemies to limbless worms renders them disabled, potentially allowing for a no-kill playthrough...

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance

Metal Gear Rising takes the series in a new direction, promising an all-new action experience... find out if this was a wise decision or not

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance is a brilliant game and the best hack and slash in recent memory, possibly even of the generation. It has style as well as substance, something that is so rare in modern entertainment.

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance review – best served hot

The creators of Bayonetta present a Metal Gear spin-off that swaps stealth for action and Snake for Raiden – but is it a fair trade?

One of the best combat systems ever in an action game, with multiple layers and plenty of scope for experimentation. Wonderfully over-the-top enemies and fantastic bosses

The camera takes too much nannying to keep it pointing in the right direction. Frame rate is not as stable as it should be. Tutorials could be better

Exactly as entertaining as you’d expect from a collaboration between two of Japan’s most talented developers, and one of the best action games of the generation.
