MLB 08: The Show (PlayStation 3)

MLB 08: The Show does very little new, but most everything it does is done very, very well.

MLB 08 The Show

Baseball season's in full form and another year brings another installment of The Show. I found last year's version of MLB 07 The Show to be a good baseball game. It had its flaws but overall I thought it was a solid effort. This time around, MLB 08...

It's a solid baseball game for the PlayStation 3. The Road to the Show is still fun and there are some nice new additions. It's too bad some of the bugs in last year's version still show up.

MLB 08: The Show review for the PS3

Best-looking MLB game yet; Realistic "Road to the Show"; Numbers, numbers, and MORE numbers

but maybe a little too realistic.; ...that don't always translate to real baseball

So, I'm still left to dream of the day when there's a perfect marriage of an arcade-style console game and a realistic simulator, but MLB: The Show will do for now. Despite my pet peeves, there's a lot of fun to be had. Whether you enjoy playing actual...

MLB 08: The Show

Ever since the PSP launched, Sony has commited to making sports titles for their handheld platform every year, even if no one else would. When major league baseball went third-party exclusive with 2K Sports a few years ago, and 2K chose to pretty much...

Road to the Show feature comes across well on the convenient "on the go" PSP format ; The graphics are closer to the PS2 version than the PS3's, but on the smaller screen, they look sharper than on the PS2

Fielding controls are a disaster on PSP ; Online play is nothing to write home about

In the end, no matter whether you’re playing on PlayStation 2, PSP or PlayStation 3, MLB 08 The Show is good enough that folks who own Xbox 360s and Nintendo Wiis may just start wishing Sony would make their franchise available to platforms other than...

Let's say your traveling, do you ever have the urge to play a videogame on your handheld, but can't because it either doesn't exist or is radically different than the console version? Back in the days, handheld versions of console games were nothing...

nbspMLB 08: The Show is the best offering of baseball you'll get no matter what PlayStation console you pick it up for. The PSP version of the game still features practically everything that makes the PS3 game so great, with even a few extra modes. It...

MLB 08 The Show

Making great leaps forward from last year's Sony-made baseball game -- which had great potential but came off the bat as an double rather then a homerun --, MLB 08 for the PlayStation3 still doesn't not knock it out of the park, but it's a solid...

If you've played MLB '07, the fact that great improvements have been made to MLB '08 won't be a surprise -- '07 simply didn't set the bar very high --, but to the relief of baseball gamers in general, the improvements to '08 are in the most important...

MLB 08: The Show Review

This is easily the year's best baseball game.

If the online play gets up and running, there's no doubt that the game should be rated an 'A'. You could even make a case for it as a system seller for any baseball fan-MLB The Show is just that good.

MLB 08 is the best baseball game on the market, and the best sports game of this generation. For the first time since NFL 2K, a sports game is a must-buy for any console owner.

Product Specifications

Already widely considered the most authentic baseball game available, MLB 08 The Show is set to provide fans with the most realistic baseball experience to date with innovations such as a more immersive road to the show mode, enabling gamers to play both offense and defense from the created player's perspective. Providing players with some additional performance incentives, the MLB franchise introduces the progressive batting performance feature, which will both reward players for superior performance and penalize them for hitting slumps. Specific to each individual batter, players will be rewarded with slight contact bonuses, or punished with slight decreases in contact, based on how that batter that performs beyond his "natural ability" while under user control.
