Has the champ returned?

Is Mortal Kombat everything fans have been dreaming about for years? Yes it is. It has a fighting system that has depth, enough content to make it worth the sixty bucks, and all the blood and guts that made you love the original. Mortal Kombat is...

Mortal Kombat

TheMortal Kombat series is strange. It's managed to survive and even thrive for twenty years now based entirely on things that have absolutely nothing to do with its gameplay.

Aside from those admittedly minor issues, Mortal Kombat is an impressive piece of work. It's got more than enough gore to satisfy the older fans, a deep combat system to draw in tournament-level players, and a huge amount of content. It's nice to see...

Mortal Kombat Review: A Near-Flawless Victory

Mortal Kombat thoroughly impresses on Vita despite limitations.

I didn't think it fair to review Mortal Kombat for Vita without referencing the following key paragraph from our original review, which was written a little over a year ago by fighting game savant Neidel Crisan:

Mortal Kombat

The long running fighting series finally returns to its 2D roots. With it comes the series trademark visuals and sounds. Everything is presented in impressive high definition visuals - Mortal Kombat has never looked this good.

What can be found in Mortal Kombat though is a series of awesome unlockables, that you'll get from playing through Mortal Kombat enough. Fans of the series are sure to appreciate these a lot more, but they're still cool to unlock regardless.

It's strange to note the general opinion of the new Mortal Kombat, generally that this is a return to form, as if all the previous generation outings for the series were absolute garbage. We couldn't disagree more; their willingness to throw in the...

Mortal Kombat (PS3) Review

It's up to our favorite Earthrealm heroes to wrestle control from Shao Kahn and his groupies in the latest installation in the infamous fighter series.

I rode my bike five miles to the comic book store and made my way to the back of the shop. There was a black sheet hanging from the ceiling, essentially sealing off the taboo machine from younger eyes. A large filthy looking man hovered around the area...

Mortal Kombatwins!

Ample content across numerous game modes; respectful nostalgia tempered with over-the-top ridiculousness; new additions such as a power meter and X-Ray attacks add depth and flair; accessible but with appreciable depth; fun story mode

AI is easily exploitable; difficulty level is uneven; mild lag in multiplayer offerings; some content is superfluous; no exclusive character for 360 version
