Pain - PS3 review at Thunderbolt Games

Why do we like to see people hurt themselves? Simple, because it's not happening to us. Shows like Jackass and its various spin-offs are hugely successful, and all because we get to see halfwits hurt themselves for our entertainment.

Pain

Pain was first shown off to the press at Sony Gamers' Day 2007. The concept of the game came from one of the marketing teams at Sony. But with a limited amount of content for the price tag and already additional content the player much purchase, is...

Because of this, I recommend that you steer clear of Pain and its high price tag. If the price comes down to at least five dollars, I would probably recommend the game for a few hours of fun. However, as it stands, you are better off spending your...

I don't think it would be too outlandish to say that the PlayStation Network has had an odd first year, especially when compared to its closest competitor, Xbox Live. While Xbox Live Arcade has seen numerous top-notch games in established genres, it...

Surprisingly interesting concept ; A lot of potential

Controls are a bit too complicated ; Waaaaaaaaaaaay too short to be worth the entry fee

PAIN would be a great game if it were actually a game. Instead, it’s like a brief demo that you’re being charged $10 to play.

PAIN - PS3 Network

Forget Jackass - if you want hilarious injuries and high-octane destruction, this is the game that...

Funny as hell, especially with friends ; Crammed with cool stuff to discover ; Replay lets you dissect each launch

Frustrating camera ; Single-player only holds up so long ; No way to save replays

Off the bowling pins, into the train, through the mime with nothing but carnage.

Because of these issues, PAIN is little more than a novelty, a tech demo that offers a couple of hours of amusement. The promise of additional characters and environments (for a price) could greatly enhance the experience, but until we snag that...

One aspect of the game that keeps it from being too monotonous, (especially since there is only one board to fling Jarvis around), is the fact that you earn rewards for different feats Jarvis may accomplish while flying through the air and slamming...

Fun to sling Jarvis into buildings and people; Jarvis comments are hysterical

Only one environment to destruct; There are only a few unlockables; Always start from the same point in the city

There are a couple of modes that can be played aside from the 'Pandemonium' mode which allows you to just fling Jarvis anywhere for the most amount of points. One of the modes has you grabbing as many monkeys in mid-air as you can within a set time;...

Painfully addictive.

When PAIN was first announced, a few features such as online head-to-head mutliplayer, the ability to download/upload replays and deeper community interactivity was planned to be included. Alas, they were not ready at the time the game launched, which...

Sony brings the Pain to the Playstation 3 care of a nice PSN $9.99 download.

One more note... This game is NOT for little kids though. There is some mild language as well as the sexual humor. So if you are planning on buying this game for Little Timmy, I would not recommend it. I also doubt Sony needs some stupid lawsuit...

You thought I was going to start this review with a moan about how long it's taken PAIN to float across the Atlantic into our PSN store, right? Well you'd be wrong! Haha! No, I'm not miffed at all. I'm serene. You know why? Being able to catapult a...

Pain

Pain is a much misunderstood game from Idol Minds that encourages sadism! Alright, it doesn’t really encourage sadism, but that was a hell of an opening line, right? Pain is unique in the way that there is nothing else that's really like it. And we...
