Review: Record of Agarest War Zero

This lackluster SRPG effort from Idea Factory features a decently designed combat system, but strange interface choices and glacial pacing make it tough to recommend.

Interesting combat engine with a good deal of technique and nuance; fun "generations" system

Poor graphical presentation and interface choices; bland music; very slow pace

Agarest happily paddles in tiny circles around the most stagnant corner of a genre where rigor mortis is already setting in. That doesn't make it a bad game, per se - but it's impossible to recommend to anyone beyond its existing fan base.
