Red Faction: Guerrilla

Get your ass to Mars, and destroy everything. When it first released in 2001, Red Faction looked to change the way first-person shooters played. Volition did this by allowing the...

Great story ; Multiplayer is a blast ; Tons of missions ; Destroy everything

Some clipping issues ; Why is Wrecking Crew not online

[DLC] Red Faction: Guerrilla - Demons of the Badlands

Volition lets you return to Mars before the events of Red Faction: Guerrilla, but do you really want to?

The lack of variety in locales hurts the overall visual splendor that the full game has, but at least the additional firepower doesn't do much to harm the framerate during destruction. The compression on the pre-rendered movies is also a little painful.

More weapons! More vehicles! More limits! Wait, what?

As much as the main campaign disappointed me in length, the side-quests included some really creative usage of the game engine. Demolition master assignments now, more than in the retail original, emphasize a singular

This downloadable prologue is a bit barren, but it still packs a delightfully destructive punch.

More thrilling destruction opportunities ; Powerful new weapons ; Interesting slice of backstory

Story elements and engaging missions are sparse ; Poor variety of Marauder actions

It must take an impressive amount of balls to take a much loved franchise, strip away its conventions and give it a complete overhaul. If it works, as in the case of Mario 64, a title can become a much needed rebirth but if it fails like it does more...

You'll also be able to unlock the gold hammer and turrets among others that don't overheat by reaching achievements/trophies. While not technically cheats, the game does reward players who do play through the game with some pretty cool stuff.

Believe the hype and get yourself to Mars.

Also missing are any sort of level creation or modification tools. With huge fan support for the mod community in the other two games in the series, as well as strong demand for them, it's disappointing to see them absent in Guerrilla. Although...

Red Faction: Guerrilla- PS3

With so many recent open-world games -- inFAMOUS, Prototype, and Red Faction: Guerrilla -- I can feel myself beginning to grow tired of the genre. Not because any of them are bad, but because the...

Because when it comes down to it we all enjoy breaking stuff.

Awesome destruction and explosions; unique multiplayer modes that capitalize on the game's unique attributes

Bland storytelling and characters; you might quickly tire of the red planet's vistas

Is an enemy military faction member shooting you in the face? Smash him with a hammer! Is a wall between you and your objective? Smash it with a hammer! Do you know how to make a somewhat bland third-person shooter above average? I'm sure you get the...

I'm convinced this is one of the best third-person shooter experiences since Gears of War 2.
