Ridge Racer 7

Drifting 101

As you can see, Ridge Racer 7 adds a good amount of depth and diversity to the racing genre, while retaining quite a bit of originality. Ridge Racer 7 was the first game i've played in the Ridge Racer series, and I completely loved the racing...

Ridge Racer 7 (PlayStation 3)

Last year's Ridge Racer 6 marked the first time that a game in the main Ridge Racer series appeared on a non-Sony platform. With Ridge Racer 7, the series is back on PlayStation and available at launch for the PS3. It brings the same arcade-style,...

Ridge Racer 7 Game Review - Playstation 3

Now, after its surprise appearance on the Xbox 360, Ridge Racer returns home with the release of Ridge Racer 7 as part of Sony's PlayStation 3 launch. This particular installment is certainly a major step forward for the storied franchise, but it's...

Reminds you that this is, in fact, a PlayStation system you just bought, does a great job at carrying a thin launch lineup with pure depth and fun

The arcade style, lack of real physics will undoubtedly annoy some, Xbox 360 owners might not be ready to invest in the series again so soon after RR6

One new mechanic is Slipstream, or Drafting as some of you may know it. This is pretty straightforward; drive behind a competing car to reduce wind resistance and speed up faster, then overtake them with the extra push. It seems a little out of place...

Ridge Racer 7

In the Library of Congress exists a shelf filled with the numerous iterations of the Ridge Racer series. With each new platform comes a new installment, particularly Sony systems which have almost all launched with a new Ridge Racer game in tow. While...

Fantastic use of Sixaxis motion-sensitivity ; Great online multiplayer ; Solid visual presentation

Short single player mode ; Tracks and vehicles largely pulled from Ridge Racer 6 ; Lame audio

Ridge Racer 7 easily is the best installment yet for the main series, bringing its style of arcade racing to PlayStation 3. While the suck is lackluster and there aren’t many new vehicles or tracks, it does offer intuitive new motion-sensitive controls...

Namco does it again; this is powerslide-fueled arcade racing heaven.

Ridge Racer 7

For reasons I am not sure of, the Ridge Racer franchise has become synonymous with launch consoles; you really expect them for any Sony console

I cannot say enough about how solid Ridge Racer 7 is in every category, however there is still some room for improvement, especially in the Grand Prix mode which does feel a little lacking. Other than that, Ridge Racer 7 looks good and plays even...

Ridge Racer 7

That last one was a blunder, delivering a largely last-gen effort on a next-gen console that had two other excellent racers at launch. While it was by no means a bad game, gamers responded by making it the worst selling game at launch in North...

This is the Ridge Racer fans have been waiting for since the series stopped wowing people on the original PlayStation. A true step forward for the series in every sense, Ridge Racer 7 keeps its arcade-inspired drifting roots while adding in an...

Ridge Racer 7

Namco Bandai's latest in the Ridge franchise feels like a love letter to Sony fans who braved the wait for PS3.

It's Ridge Racer on PS3, displaying at up to 1080p, with fantastic multiplayer and very well-implemented leaderboards

It's still last year's 360 launch title with a few tweaks, so it's not a sequel in the true sense; doesn't look so hot on standard-def TV

Don't overlook this amazing arcade racer

Lots of cars and tracks ; Addictive online racing ; Sizzling speed and HDTV

Not evolved much from previous versions ; Recycled content from 360 version ; Formula needs some shaking up
