Shatter Review

Back to the basics with more style.

With most PSN games, and most network games, you can't expect much from the graphics. Shatter has that great, kind of trippy, techno-ish style to it along the lines of Lumines for the PSP. Like other games that have this similar style, it's simple...

Shatter Review

The developers of GripShift are back with their PS3-exclusive remake of some of the classic block-breaking games from the 70's and 80's. But read on to find out why this is so much more than just a fancy pants revamp of Arkanoid with pixel shader...

Great graphics; Adds some creative gameplay elements to the mix instead of being a straight-up fancy remake. "Suck" and "Blow" mechanics add a whole new means of interacting with the gameplay environment while keeping the game challenging

No multiplayer functionality aside from the usual Leaderboard options. Camera system will be rather unkind to anybody who suffers from motion sickness

Shatter is a fiendishly well-crafted game available from the Playstation Store for a little under ten bucks where you spend hours smashing blocks and absorbing vast amounts of neurologically-stimulating graphical flair and ambience. What more do you...

Suck And Blow

The goal is to use a bouncing ball to destroy (or shatter) bricks while preventing it from falling off screen

Breakout, in space

Incredible visuals ; Push/pull objects mid-flight ; Horribly addictive

Mostly just copies Breakout ; Visuals can get hectic ; Almost too addictive

What makes it different from the much-copied original are incredible visuals (it has the same kind of fizzing HD sparks and neon that made Super Stardust HD a hit) and some smart twists on the ages-old gameplay. Now as well as bouncing your galactic...

Shatter Review

It takes a certain kind of guts to take a classic game, especially one from the 80s, and try to make it modern. You can't go too far outside the original parameters, but you can't just add silly graphics, either. Shatter is an attempt to modernize...

For those that dig Shatter's depth and style, the rabbit hole goes pretty deep: it offers plenty of strategy with its vacuum system, and the variety of levels and smooth graphics, sound and music make for a great value for many gamers at only $7.99 on...

They say you're never more than six feet away from an Breakout clone. Or is it rats? Either way, there are a lot of games that like to copy paddle-and-ball gameplay while hoping you won't remembe...

Through the Broken Glass

A Breakout or Arkanoid clone that does its inspiration one better, Shatter did precisely as the name implies to our expectations and emerges as one of the single best games you can find on the PlayStation 3.

Gorgeous, surreal visuals, clean lines and simple but effective little levels with lots to destroy.

Shatter is a newly released update to a classic, developed by the rather unknown Sidhe Interactive, and it may be one of the surprise downloadable titles of the year. It's an update of the classic arcade title, Breakout. For those unaware of Breakout,...

Review: Shatter (Sony PS3)

One of my interests as a video gamer is gaming genealogy. I love to trace the roots of a game back to find out what influenced the developers during the development process. In the case of Shatter, these influences are more obvious than some other...

Shatter would be a good game at $30 dollars. For $10, you get a game that might just be a classic, a reinvention of my favorite game genre, and a game that is a blast to play. For less than many, many lesser games, you can pick up Shatter, its amazing...
