SOCOM 4: U.S. Navy SEALs (PlayStation 3)

Though it has a long history of bringing tactical third-person shooter action to Sony systems, the SOCOM series' debut on the PlayStation 3 failed to fully capture the excitement of its predecessors. Yet while SOCOM: Confrontation disappointed, SOCOM 4...

Socom 4: U.S. Navy Seals Review for the PS3

AKA, the Post-PSN Outage Apocalyptic Killing Squad.

Surprisingly good campaign; Reasonably intelligent AI; Mostly intact classic multiplayer

Trying too hard to be CoD; Clunky load-outs; Repetitive environments

SOCOM 4: U.S. Navy Seals Review

Back in the glory days of the PS2, there was a little game that got a lot of hype and made owners of the system very excited. SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs was your typical 3rd person shooter, but it also brought...

Fun co-op ; Great voice acting ; Good squad based controls

Unimpressive/already done story ; Not much customization ; AI has it's hindering moments

Back in the glory days of the PS2, there was a little game that got a lot of hype and made owners of the system very excited. SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs was your typical 3rd person shooter, but it also brought a new aspect to the way we played: commanding...

SOCOM 4: U.S. Navy SEALs Review

More like SO-SO, amirite!?

Pretty solid shooter; good multiplayer additions; a variety of "realistic" ordnance to try out and level up

Story and set pieces fall flat; terrible stealth missions; motion controls are extraneous at best

All in all, SOCOM 4, like any new game in a series that has a near-and-dear fan base, is going to rub some people the wrong way. But it's really not a bad shooter; its biggest issue is going to be whether there's a there there, to quote Gertrude Stein....

SOCOM 4: U.S. Navy SEALs Review

Admittedly, I have never been a SOCOM fan, primarily because I've never been an avid online player. But I was excited to give SOCOM 4: U.S. Navy SEALs a try, primarily because it featured a full single-player campaign, one that even sports a bit of...

SOCOM 4: U.S. Navy SEALs Review

SOCOM 4 doesn't come out until next week, but we've got the review for you right now! And we only had to kill a hundred guys to get it to you.

SOCOM has always been one of the more polarizing franchises. Some people just can’t get into it, and that's fine. The multiplayer for SOCOM 4 is solid, and I'm having a lot of fun with it. I wish there were more game modes and maps to make my purchase...

SOCOM 4: U.S. NAVY SEALs (Playstation 3) Review

Zipper Interactive returns to home to see if they can reclaim a portion of their former glory with SOCOM 4: U.S. NAVY SEALs.

game is silky smooth online and off ; six day storyline helps push it forward ; robust online component ; great production, better than expected

if you only want single-player, might be too short ; the A.I. Aren't always the quickest bunnies in the forest ; stealth missions are ok, but feel unnecessary

SOCOM 4 helps rehabilitate the iconic name of “SOCOM.” While SOCOM 4 is a little short when its comes to blowing through the single-player campaign, the multiplayer component will keep you around for a while. Helping you ease into SOCOM's world is the...

Awesome! A modern facelift on the OMP shooting legend!

AWESOME! Updated on Apr 20, 2011

Graphics are awesome, the feel and control is great. A great new set-up. Has a modern shooter face-lift yet still has classic SOCOM gameplay

Minor issues...its still a beta, but the voting system has got to be changed. Major pain and the voting notification box blocks half your screen while your playing in game, that has got to go

ARGH!!! Possibly the worst shooter I've ever played.

For starters, anyone who says this title is anything like its predecessors is A) flat out lying B) talking out their ass, or C) mentally handicapped to the point that they won't remember reading this review by the time they finish. To even hold this...

Battlefield-esque shooter... and I should be given sainthood and a wet rimj** for even saying that much

NOT AT ALL LIKE ANY OF THE PREVIOUS GAMES IN THE SOCOM SERIES ; Honestly, I'm forced to question whether Zipper and Sony were trying to put an end to the SOCOM series by allowing the general public to play this game

Disgrace to the old socoms

If you liked the old socoms, you wont like this one.

next gen graphics

zipper totally sold out, game plays more like cod than old socoms. Its incredibly generic and just plain boring, lacks passion and dull, camera view and controls are horrible
