Spider-Man: Edge of Time

Spider-Man: Edge of Time is Beenox's rather sad and sorry chaser to the comparatively fine drink that was Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions. Instead of playing as four different Spider-Men, this go around you're limited to two: the Spider-Man we all...

Limiting this conversation to pure aesthetics, then yes, the game looks reasonably nice ; Voice acting is decent, if you don’t mind the fact that these two are annoying as hell, and cattier than a pair of old queens

The two Spider-Men play exactly the same, and the two time periods appear to have few if any differences ; It’s annoying as hell constantly having to switch between characters and timezones ; The “witty banter” between the two Spider-Men is annoying,...

Spider-Man: Edge of Time is a disappointment of brobdingnagian enormity in relation to the superior Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions, which was quite unbelievably released by the same development team, not much prior to this debacle. While the bulk of...

Spider-Man: Edge of Time

Perhaps if the story had been absolutely stellar, I could have overlooked the meager gameplay and poor design. As it stands, Spider-Man: Edge of Time feels like a quick cash-in on Shattered Dimensions, and not a fully developed game in its own right....

Spider-Man: Edge of Time Review

Edge of terrible

It's good to see that Val Kilmer can still get work, well done voice acting from various animated Spider-Men

The entire game is the same fight repeated over 8 hours, ditto for the level design, Spider-Man and Spider-Man 2099's constant bickering

Spider-Man: Edge of Time Review

I really don't have any idea how many millions of copies the Spider-Man games have sold over the years, but they must at least be breaking even, because publisher Activision has been cranking them out at a furious pace for quite a while now. I think...

While Spider-Man: Edge of Time delivers a slightly better experience than Activision's other similar licensed games this year, it still falls a bit short of the expectations set by last year's Shattered Dimensions. So now, in the last six months,...

Spider-Man: Edge of Time Review

I am going to be honest up front; I wanted to love Edge of Time. To me, Shattered Dimensions was truly one of the best of the series, and Beenox is truly an outstanding developer, having seen their...

Solid voice acting ; Story has promise

Boring action most of the time ; Bland environments ; Combat is sporadic ; Story gets jumbled half-way through

I am going to be honest up front; I wanted to love Edge of Time. To me, Shattered Dimensions was truly one of the best of the series, and Beenox is truly an outstanding developer, having seen their work on numerous Activision franchises. Unfortunately,...

Spider-Man: Edge of Time Review

Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions was a really good game. It was a lot of fun, the four different Spider-Man incarnations offered plenty of variety and diversity, the environments differed on a routine basis, the upgrading was surprisingly deep and...

Spider-Man: Edge of Time

Last year developer Beenox gave the fledgling Spider-Man franchise the proverbial shot in the arm it so desperately needed with the highly successful, Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions. Just one year later they are trying to continue that success with...

Spider-Man: Edge of Time Review

Spider-Man: Edge of Time tells an enjoyably absurd time-hopping tale, but stepping into the tights of its two heroes doesn't feel as empowering as it should.

Snappy writing and solid voice acting liven up the story ; Picture-in-picture storytelling generates some urgency ; Some powers are fun to use

Combat is overly simple ; Environments are often confining ; Only about six hours long

Edge of Time has other frustrations as well, including a poorly designed battle in which you must fight the same boss three times in a row, and you must repeat the entire process from the beginning if you're defeated. And start to finish, the game is...

Review: Spider-Man Edge of Time Traverses Mediocrity

Beenox's sophomore effort demonstrates they're capable of creating a great Spider-Man game, but this isn't it.

I like me some cross-over events in comics but I sure hope this is the last time it shows up in a Spider-Man video game for at least a couple of years. Last year's Spidey adventure was split across various dimensions -- this time around we have a time...
