Snap(ping), Crackl(ing), and Pop(ping) your Swarmites

Controlling the swarm is a novel experience, playing through the levels and maintaining swarmite deaths to keep your multiplier is fun

Forced replays lessen the experience, more levels with lower score requirements would have been welcomed

Swarm goes for a cartoony look and succeeds. Swarmites burst in a satisfying pop of blue goo when killed, and the swarm contrasts well with the varied colored environments. There's no dialogue, but the background music sets a nice enough tone,...

The creators of the Penny Arcade and DeathSpank games, Hothead Games, have made some pretty good games, right? Yeah... Okay, so let's stop being coy; Swarm is not very good. It is sometimes good, but not often, with the key problem being vaguely...

Gnarly deaths and cute aliens make for a fun combo in this challenging action game.

Lots of creative maneuvers to pull off ; Clever rewards for killing swarmites ; High-score hunting is addictive

Occasionally brutal difficulty ; Short length

I can still remember the first time I played Lemmings. The concept boggled my mind. There was nothing like it that I had ever played.

Climbing leaderboards is addictive ; Sadistic humor ; Quirky art style

Controls take getting used to ; Humor falls flat sometimes

I can still remember the first time I played Lemmings. The concept boggled my mind. There was nothing like it that I had ever played. That concept has bred so many ideas over the years and was my first thought when booting up Hothead Games’ latest...

Swarm- PS3

At its peak, the unforgiving level of challenge found woven throughout the game's most brutal stretches is a turnoff at times, but Swarm still manages to win over with its dynamic gameplay and the humorous way it delivers on its twisted concept.

The crux of the problem is that Swarm's frustrations are many and its rewards too few, yet there's enough charm layered within that you'll find yourself soldiering on despite a multitude of annoyances. I'm convinced the team at Hothead have a great...

It takes awhile to learn its tricks, and by the time you do it's almost over. Still, one can't deny the pleasure of watching the determined swarm bravely triumph over the loss of hundreds of casualties to saw blades, electricity and fire in the pursuit...

Swarm- PS3

Swarm definitely has its frustrating moments, and there will be times when being forced to play a level yet again will feel unfair, but its absurd sense of charm and uniquely destructive platforming play more than make up for this. The game is...
