Thor: God of Thunder

Since hitting the PS2 over half a decade ago, the God of War formula has become fairly well-known, with some games doing a decent job with it like Dante's Inferno, and others using it as a basis and then adding to it like Castlevania: Lords of Shadow....

Thor for the 360 and PS3 is a sub-par God of War clone that does a surface-level job of replicating what makes that kind of game work, while missing the point of what works on any kind of deeper level. If you like that style of game, play either that...

Thor: God of Thunder (PS3) Review

The Mighty Thor is dominating the box office around the world, but what about videogame consoles? Jeffrey Harris checks in with his review of the PS3 version of Thor: God of Thunder.

I love Thor, but this is not a videogame worthy of the God of Thunder. I wish the development team that gave us Spider-Man and Spider-Man 2 would come back together and make all the Marvel comic movie games. Because this does not cut it. Raven...

Thor: God of Thunder

Voiceovers from the film's cast are done surprisingly well, and some of the scenery in the game is rendered remarkably. Sadly, the rest of the game (including out dated character models and effects) is either unimpressive or downright bad.

I'd love to see a cheat to unlock unlimited health, magic and instant upgrades. These cheats would make playing through Thor a more enjoyable experience to play through.

Thor: God of Thunder Review for the PS3

Hmm, now where have I seen this before...

Combat is satisfying and engaging; Rewarded with more death and destruction; Controls are simple and non-intrusive

Boring aesthetics; Really, a less-than-polished God of War ripoff

Thor: God of Thunder Review

Thor isn't the worst game I've played, but it's certainly the worst I've played in a long, long time.

Playing this game is an exercise in patience. The graphics are mediocre at best, and even then the game struggles to maintain a consistent presentation of the world around you. Control is completely spotty. More often than not I pressed a button and...

Thor: God of Thunder Review

Thor: God of Thunder hammers out an experience that is absolutely awful in every way.

Shallow combat made worse by poor collision detection ; Finicky camera and sluggish controls make navigation a chore ; Excessively high difficulty level ; Tedious boss fights ; Outdated visuals with a stuttering frame rate

Aside from combat, there are brief platforming sections that aren't any more fun than the hammer-bashing brawls that surround them. A lack of clear direction means you often wander around looking for where to go next, and the usual problems, such as...

Thor: God of Thunder

The game plays much like others of the genre; like Ninja Gaiden and God of War, with a button for melee attacks, blocking which can counter and reflect projectiles and magical attacks, which you can select. These attacks, which take the form of...

Thor: God of Thunder Review

To be fair, I have never been a fan of the superhero explosion in Hollywood, although I admit to liking the new “Batman” movies. For the most part, I find the milking of this all-out supernatural action craze to be intensely boring. But on the other...

Thor: God of Thunder Review

This game adaption is less "god of war and thunder," and more "god of snore and blunder."

Though the initial trailers were unconvincing, I'm happy to say that Marvel's first Thor film looks to be a winner. Relative newcomer Chris Hemsworth reportedly turns in a commanding performance as the titular Norse god, a supremely well-respected...

Thor: God of Thunder review

While reviews of Thor the movie have been pretty good, the video game has proven to be a critically acclaimed flop. It’s disappointing, too, since super hero games have done well in recent memory with hits like Batman: Arkham Asylum and DC Universe...

As great of a game as Thor could have been, the developers really let their fans down by creating a linear experience with level design that will excite no one. The combat works fine and can actually be decent at times, but it all feels too much like a...
