Transformers: War for Cybertron

I'm not sure that a genuine, unbiased critical evaluation is really possible forTransformers, unless the person doing the evaluation was either born in the early '90s or didn't have a TV during the '80s. War for Cybertron involves Peter Cullen doing...

It's not bad, exactly, and a lot of people are going to have fun with it just by virtue of the fact that they get to play as an awesome Transformer. It's just not as good as it could be.

Transformers: War for Cybertron

Transformers: War for Cybertron is a third person shooter based around the Generation 1 Transformers. (See? I warned you!!) The story takes place on their home planet of Cybertron before they left for Earth (which is the point from where the 80's...

G1 Transformers, and faithful to the lore of the cartoon (which like most of 80’s vintage, is in itself an admittedly cynical marketing tool to sell pre existing toys) ; Well…it is the best Transformers game to date, for what that’s worth ; Can play as...

Even less impressive than other third person shooters on the market currently…and that’s saying something ; Wholly reliant on nostalgia – without a strong affection for the brand marketing prior to purchase, this doesn’t have much of a leg to stand on

While it’s pretty cool for TF fans to transform from robot to car or plane the first few times, it grows rather thin rather quickly. That said, you don’t really need to switch form very often – for example, the only time you need to switch to vehicle...

If there's been one franchise that's stumbled out of the gate more times than not in regards to video games, it's the Transformers. They have been tossed into a series of mediocre games due to their recent emergence in modern cinema. High Moon...

Review: TransFormers: War For Cybertron (Sony PS3)

The first part of the campaign puts you with Megatron as he's moving to clench not only complete command of the Decepticons but also control over Cybertron by attempting to utilize a forbidden form of power known for its instability, Dark Energon. ...

TransFormers: War For Cybertron is a compelling TransFormers title that would be fairly generic without the great characters and story lines tied into a long running property. High Moon has managed to create a title that I’ve enjoyed turning on again...

What's Cybertronian for "tumbleweed?"

And that's the problem. War for Cybertron's multiplayer is all-but-abandoned. Peak population on Xbox Live is around 4,600 players or so, and PSN's playerbase is even more dire, at around 800 players or so. On PC, there were exactly 158 players as of...

A new Transformers game that doesn't suck? Can it be? Find out in our review of War for Cybertron! (Xbox 360, PS3)

Some games try to be art. They build massive worlds, use dynamic control schemes, create incredible characters and plots or do something unique that no one else has done. Transformers: War for Cybertron does none of these things, and still is a good...

More Than Meets The Eye

Transformers: War for Cybertron isn't just a good Transformers game, it's a good game. Hooray!

Hell, I could probably poke fun at the fact that the two campaigns are pretty lopsidedly fun on the Autobot side (there are just more set piece moments, but then that's probably to be expected), or that some of the boss fights are very clearly...

Transformers: War for Cybertron (Xbox 360) Review

High Moon Studios captures the spirit of The Transformers in a way none have since the 1980s.

Questionable fashion and excellent music define the 1980s. If you're an Eighties (or even Nineties) kid, then you probably remember when The Simpsons and MTV were still good. Hell, anything you saw on TV was better than the remakes and brain-melting...

Transformers: War for Cybertron Re..

Great license, ok game

Excellent use of Transformers license, smooth transformations, Escalation mode is a blast

Brain dead AI, difficulty through ammo scarcity, cheap boss battles

Even with the game's various problems I kept finding myself excited to play and looking forward to the next chapter to see which characters would be along for the ride. It doesn't hurt that I'm a huge fan of the Transformers with more toys than I know...
