Archer Maclean's Mercury

There's not really much to the game graphically – the levels are pretty basic and do their job – it's a puzzle game, a genre not exactly known for or even requiring stunning visuals. The presentation is decent enough, and the frame rate is smooth, a...

Archer Maclean's Mercury

An interesting take on the labyrinthstyle puzzler for the PSP.

The audio does a good job in keeping your ears busy, with some mellow background tunes and decent enough sounds effects. I liked the little liquidly "bloop" noises that your mercury makes while oozing and bouncing about the stages, and the falling...

Fitting that a game featuring a smooth blob of liquid would ooze its way into your brain.

Archer Maclean's Mercury

Archer Maclean is no stranger to the world of addictive games, so it probably shouldn't come as any surprise that the back of the Mercury box boasts it is “possibly the most addictive game you'll ever play!” As a fan of Mr. Maclean's work, and a guy...

Mercury is the type of game that has enough of a challenge to keep you coming back to it for months to come … if you don’t get worn out of the game play before then.

Archer Maclean's Mercury Sony PSP Review

The game puts you through its paces with over 70 levels, ranging from platforms where you have to cavort across without losing a certain percentage of your mercury content, to other levels where you have to hit switches to open doors and avoid the...

Very fluid gameplay and an impressive look to the animated mercury

A bit lacking in extra modes, and multiplayer is a bit weak

Had enough of Lumines, you say? Well, you're either delirious, crazy, or just seeking something that makes further use of your PSP. Since I couldn't really say something about the first two reasons (after all, I don't know what kind of effect Lumines...

Now you can play with mercury in a safe, virtual environment

Mercury is a great puzzle game and a worthy contender so far to the others available on the PSP. The unique gameplay and puzzles, as well as the balanced increase in difficulty, makes for an addicting and rewarding experience. There may not be too much...

Archer MacLean's Mercury PSP Review

When I was asked to review Archer MacLean's Mercury by Chris, Console Obsession's long-suffering deadline lion-tamer, two questions popped into my head. Firstly, what sort of name is Archer MacLean's Mercury for a game, and secondly, who the hell is...

Archer Maclean's Mercury

When the PlayStation Portable launched in Europe back in September 2005 the limelight was immediately grabbed by the likes of Sony's brilliant WipEout Pure and Ubisoft's excellent original puzzler Lumines. They stole the public's attention with the...

With its fun and addictive gameplay, Mercury still remains one of the best puzzle games on the PSP, and now it is certainly the best valued.

Product Specifications

Archer Maclean's "Mercury" has been specifically designed to take full advantage of the unique gaming experience offered by the Sony PSP. Using the Machine's powerful graphics processing abilities and the Wi-Fi modes, Awesome studios have produced a brand new genre defining puzzle game, which is quite possibly the most imaginative and compelling game to be released in recent years. The aim of the game is simple. Without spilling too much, you guide your various colored mercury blobs around each 3D maze simply by "tilting" the level. Watch as the liquid metal blobs ebb and flow around the countless challenges encountered along the way.
