Armored Core: Formula Front (PSP)

Armored Core: Formula Front Extreme Battle brings the hulking masses of metal and firepower to the PSP, and while the esoteric stat-balancing and constant tweaking may dissuade newcomers, Armored Core enthusiasts will be pleased by how well the game...

Giant robot fighting, a past-time that has been a fan-favorite for many, many years has finally come to the PSP. Now you can whoop some metallic ass anywhere at anytime,...

Armored Core 3 Portable

Believe it or not, there are a lot of PlayStation 2 games I wouldn't mind seeing ported to the PSP. For instance, I would love to play Metal Gear Solid 2 and 3 on the go. Obscure gems like Bombastic and Sky Odyssey would really shine on the small...

There are a lot of PlayStation 2 games I wouldn't mind owning on the PSP ... and Armored Core 3 is not one of them. If you're not already a fan of the series you won't be won over by this clunky installment. With an enhanced sequel coming out later...

Armored Core 3 Portable

Have you played Armored Core 3 on PS2? Would you like the same experience with fewer buttons on the PSP? Then Armored Core 3 Portable is exactly what you need. Cumbersome controls, dated graphics, and ad-hoc only multiplayer are all Armored Core 3...

Rotten Core

Armored Core 3 Portable serves as an archaic, painful reminder of how far the series has come.

Small areas, a short draw distance, low-res textures and a bland presentation all drag down the look of things far too much.

Just give us Chromehounds 2 (or Chromehounds PSP) already.

I'll be the first to admit I had a bit of a predisposition going in to this review and, as such, my opinions of AC3 may have been a little preemptive. However, I would like to think that having an open-minded predisposition would make it much easier...

Armored Core 3 Portable

These ancient mechs are more dated than Robotech

Customizable controls ; Vast array of mech parts ; Ad hoc multiplayer

Clunky PSP controls ; User-unfriendly mission structure ; No effort to ease in newbies

It's possible Armored Core 3 may well have offered something during the PS2 generation, but whatever relevance it might've had seven years ago - especially given its inelegant transition to the PSP - has long since passed.

Armored Core: Formula Front

If nothing else, Armored Core: Formula Front needs recognition for being one of the biggest night-and-day changes any localized game has received, compared to its original Japanese release. When the game was released in Japan, it was, quite literally,...

That whole "control" thing is well-integrated into the game like it was actually there in the first place ; Very good graphics and sound ; Tons and tons of options for building your mech

So many options, in fact, that the game is pretty intimidating and often mystifying, and what little in-game help is offered isn't nearly enough ; There's no story or plot here ; The controls are awkward to the point where you may just be better off...

If you want a game to shoot at stuff and blow things up, keep moving. This isn't what you want. However, if you want an extremely deep (and maybe a little confusing) strategy game about building the perfect war machine, this is the perfect game for you.

Armored Core: Formula Front

In addition to climbing the single-player league system, the game includes an ad-hoc multiplayer mode so that you and a friend can wirelessly battle your bots. Sadly, no online multiplayer mode is included. You'll have to hope that one of your buddies...

Armored Core: Formula Front Review

Tired of the long wait for a next generation mech combat game? Hit up your PSP for some robot fighting fun to pass the time.

But I'll still give Armored Core Formula Front a recommendation. It contains far more greatness than I expected in its customization features, its difficult, and its visuals, and the multiplayer is admirable if not stupendous. Just make sure that,...
