Brooktown High: Senior Year

School's Out. Detention for Konami and ruler to the hand for Backbone. They flunked out on what could've been a great game in a genre new to many English speaking...

Brooktown High

I think, honestly, that high school itself would have made an excellent video game. Yeah, despite the problems that 'nerds' like myself have traditionally endured, it was one of the most thrilling and exciting times in my life. I mean, come on, I had...

I really wanted to like you, Brooktown. I mean, like like. But the problem of shallow, unrealistic gameplay and an unreasonable time limit scheme just is too overbearing. You're rushing me, going way too fast for so little reward, Brooktown. I was...

Brooktown High: Senior Year

Brooktown High has the odd distinction of being a dating game released in America that's not aimed at young girls. In fact, with sexual undertones, some strong language and a “T” for Teen rating, it's pretty much guaranteed that younger girls won't...

Clever writing ; Good voice acting

Too little time spent actually socializing ; Pointless minigames ; Big-headed midgets aren’t exactly everyone’s cup of tea ; Overall game pace is far too slow

We don’t get many dating games here in the states, which makes Brooktown High somewhat unique. Unfortunately, the slow pace and lack of opportunity to actually socialize with the other students makes this a game that does little to capitalize on that...

Brooktown High

There are probably several reasons "dating" games haven't really taken off in North America. One of them might be this here Brooktown High for PSP, which is not exactly a benchmark for the genre.

As a high school "dating" simulation, Konami's Brooktown High for PlayStation Portable is worth a gander simply because there aren't too many games like it (here anyway; they're all the rage in Japan).

Brooktown High

Love is in the air on the PSP.

Even with a decent variation of mini games and mild length to the story mode, Brooktown High suffers from the lack of any multiplayer options, which a dating MMO would be more suitable, provided you have a monitor for all those sickos out there....

Brooktown High: Senior Year Sony PSP Review

You have a lot of girls or guys you can talk to. And each of them, for the most part, have dozens of unique dialog branches involving their own quirks and side stories that you can discover if you befriend them. Conversations are handled simply and...

Unique Western foray into a distinctly Japanese genre; Large number of potential dates or friends,;Cannot see everything on one play through

Characters are of questionable appearance; Dialog repeats itself far too often; Unsatisfactory Endings; Shallow Character Arcs; Paradoxically the days are too short and the year is too long

Here's the deal on this game, you create your character who's a new transfer student to the fictitious Brooktown High somewhere in perpetually sunny California. You start as your basic nobody from the middle of nowhere. And you've got one year to make...

Brooktown High

For some, High School was an awesome four year experience that people fondly look back upon. For others, those memories aren't exactly the most pleasant. No matter what your experience was during these four years, Konami has unleashed a way for you...

As you complete the year, you will receive a summary of how your life turned out based on this year at Brooktown High. Players can start a new year and try and improve or just live out the year differently. However, Brooktown High is probably not a...

Brooktown High

Not only can you watch movies and play games on your PSP, now you can take it out on a date. Therapist not included.

Some of the dialogue is quite funny; silly video sequences

Not much of a game; very repetitive; unattractive characters

Brooktown High: Senior Year Review

Brooktown High is wasted potential that would have made for a truly interesting and enjoyable title that fits on the palm of your hands

Sadly, Brooktown High for the PSP just doesn't manage to bring us an innovative dating sim that's not just interesting but fun as well. This is actually too bad since the setting feels right and so do the situations but the overall execution makes this...
