F1 2009

There is nothing quite like the thrill of Formula 1. Twenty cars racing at up to 200 MPH for up to two hours a single mistake enough to have any driver out of the race. Add qualifiers, tactics of tire changes and refueling and the occasional splash of...

Formula One 2009

Authentic engines and professional sounding pit crew radio

Bland design and truly awful driver photos

Being something of a 'bad news first' kind of guy, we will start of with the game's foibles, which I'm happy to report are heavily outweighed by the plus points. The main gripe is immediate; the presentation of this game is very lazy. A faceless menu...

F1 2009 brings Codies' racing sim to the PSP and boy is it fast.

Things go fast, but they sure as hell aren't going to look all that pretty while doing it. The textures are weak, the framerate can nosedive in the pack and sideline details are as bland as can be.

F1 2009

Will F1 on handheld qualify for our affection?

Crisper-looking than the Wii version ; You can play for ages ; An all-encompassing 2009 season experience

Lacks smoothness to the controls ; Not better looking than past F1 games ; Not entirely an authentic experience

Like the Wii version, F1 2009 on PSP is an authentic companion to the 2009 season that features all the elements you’d hope for. Still, for a more satisfying racing experience, save up for the F1 car in Gran Turismo PSP or dig out an old copy of...

F1 2009 PSP Review

Codemasters - If there was ever anyone better at creating racing games, I would like to hear it. With games such as GRiD, TOCA and DiRT, no other developer has or will be able to live up to the standards set by them in the world of racing games. Each...

First official game in 3 years ; Grasps the basis of F1 well ; Great sounding cars

Mediocre AI ; Lack of interactive pit-stops ; Bad damage system

Pushes the right Button(s)

As appealing as some will find the idea of an official F1 game dealing exclusively with endless bickering over the sport's financial model, revelations about the F1 governing body president's naughty escapades, scheming cheap cheat strategies involving...

F1 2009 (PSP)

Save for a brief period when they shared it with EA, Sony had been kings of the official Formula 1 license since back in the PS1 days. Therefore, it came as a surprise to many when it was revealed that they would not be renewing the long-standing...

Officially licensed cars and drivers from the 09 season ; Awards and challenges add extra play time ; Multiplayer Championship mode for up to 4 players ; No pop-up issues on track ; Realistic engine noises, and five view points

Profile creation process is a little slow ; Sound occasionally glitches out ; Only 3 seasons in Career mode ; Steering a little over-sensitive with assists off ; There's only so much an F1 game can offer

Do you need F1 2009 if you already have one of the previous Sony versions for your PSP? Probably not unless, and please forgive the cliché, you particularly love the sport and want to have all the latest (a term used somewhat loosely, given that the...
