Field Commander

A solid and well balanced turn-based strategy title complete with online play.

The insanely deep multiplayer mode is actually a pretty big selling point for the game as well, and it works very well with turn-based strategy titles. Field Commander utilizes the PSP's WiFi features for both local (Ad-Hoc) versus and internet...

Sony Online Entertainment comes through once again for the PlayStation Portable.

The only other flaw with Field Commander is the slight choppiness that occurs when the camera zooms in to display battling units. But as these displays grow tedious and repetitive after the first few missions, it doesn't matter much as most will...

If imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, then Field Commander showers the Advance Wars series with praise, bringing a satisfying strategic experience to the PSP.

Chock full of single-player missions, multiplayer features, and a map editor; good voice work and soundtrack

Graphics aren't that impressive; if you've already played a lot of Advance Wars, there's not much new here

The apocalypse is nigh: a fantastic strategy game has been released for the PSP.

I said it before and I'll say it again: this is a game worth owning a PSP for. It's that good, and when you factor in all the replay value with the online modes and mission maker, it's an amazing back for your buck. Go buy this game.

Field Commander - Review

It's hard to think of a more under-represented genre on the PSP than that of strategy games. Field Commander attempts to fill this gap by bringing military turn-based strategy gaming to the system, and with a combined arms attack from the ground, air,...

When it comes to making strategy gaming on the go fun, Field Commander takes no prisoners.

Hey what a surprise, another abysmal day in soggy England, I think I'll curl up with my PSP and blow crap up. Nothing better. In the hot seat this time around is Field Commander, a turn-based strategy game set in and around the modern day, but more...

The Shadow guests to take a look at Ubisoft's Field Commander for the PSP and finds out if the game brings anything new to the genre.

Field Commander is a great military strategy title that brings in some nice innovations to the genre as well as being great fun to play. The 30 mission campaign will keep you occupied for at least 18 hours and it has robust online gaming support

Field Commander (PSP) review

Wage the smallest war on Earth

Admittedly it will only ever appeal to those with the patience for this type of game, but if you’re a fan of turn-based strategy titles, then Field Commander has more than enough going on to keep your interested for the duration.

With a strong single-player campaign and plenty of multiplayer options, you won't find a better strategy title for the PSP.

Perfectly suited to the PSP ; Excellent presentation ; Brilliant multiplayer modes

Games can take a long, long time

It's rare that I play a handheld game and don't wish I was playing it on another system; Field Commander is one such game. Controls obviously take some time to learn and the maps are a little small, but the game still works exceedingly well, especially...
