Final Fantasy: Dissidia

 

Only SquareEnix could decide to celebrate twenty years of Final Fantasy, the "go-to" RPG franchise, with a fighting game. Not only that, the publisher some managed to pull it off and actually make the game worth playing for both fighting and RPG fans....

Both of them are silly because the combination enriches both genres + Beautiful FMV sequences + Storyline, although ridiculous and angst ridden, is really well thought out, and finds a reason to weave all these characters together

Difficulty curve can be daunting - Fighting game fans will be really irritated by the RPG-menu tinkering - RPG fans may be turned off by action elements

Dissidia is a great celebration of the series as a whole, both good and bad. The long, angst-ridden soliloquies, the wild swings in difficulty, the endless collections, and some of the best FMV that the system can push out. Square has been dredging...
