Lumines (PSP)

In a perfect world, Lumines wouldn't have been sold separately from Sony's slick, new portable gaming system. But the world is still better off now that Lumines is in it. This ingeniously designed, addictive, mesmerizing puzzle game from the creator of...

If it were legal, I would marry Tetsuya Mizuguchi.

Flawless design ; Flawless presentation ; Diverse, mesmerizing soundtrack ; Near infinite replayability thanks to multiplayer, unlockables, and the depth of the Challenge mode ; No room for improvement, not just of the game but also the genre itself

Playing as much as you would like would probably kill you ; Eventually, you will have to blink

If Tetris is the soul of gaming, then what is Tetris' transdimensional, perfect form? It's Lumines and I've have never seen a 10 look so insufficient.

Created by Tetsuya Mizuguchi, the same man that brought us Space Channel 5 and Rez, Lumines is a quirky title for the PSP that incorporates smooth techno music into a quick, addictive falling-block based puzzler.

Many critics of the PSP have targeted its software line-up, saying that the games offered on the new handheld are too unoriginal or uninspired. If what they are saying is true, then Lumines stands out as a beacon of hope, a glorious light. Lumines...

The puzzle genre has always had a relatively limited number of fans. Its one of those genres that you either love or completely hate. Personally, I was on the hating side. My limited patience resulted in many puzzle games that I have experienced in the...

What would happen if you took Tetris, flipped it sideways and injected it with some cocaine? Lumines would happen. What else would you expect from the man who brought you Rez? If you're a Rez fan, then you expect only the most mesmerizing and...

So, if you love puzzle games and you have a PSP, you should definitely jump on this one. If Tetris isn't you're idea of a good time, then leave Lumines alone. Enough of this, I gotta get back to the game.

Lumines review for the PSP

A puzzle by any other name would play as sweet.

Simple, addictive gameplay; Plenty of strategy; Awesome style

No online play; Could use more options/variety

An addictive, sensory delight, Lumines is an easy PSP recommendation. It's too much of a one-trick pony to be the next killer app, but if Tetris, Columns, or Puyo Puyo ever sucked you into their local gravity wells, you're going to love it. So go down...

Lumines on PSP

Tetsuya Mizuguchi’s use of slick visuals and extremely addictive gameplay make Lumines a must-have launch title for Sony’s PSP. And while the concept of Lumines is simple enough, there is also a wealth of depth behind its seemingly elementary...

Lumines is the hipster puzzle game for the PSP that's got everyone tripping out on rave-tastic visuals and bumping techno beats. But Shawn is here to say that for all those non-raver, techno-hating gamers out there, Lumines is still a dang fun puzzle...

Lumines is the perfect companion to the PSP in so many ways it's mind-boggling, and why Sony opted not to publish this game in America (it was without US publisher for quite some time before Ubi Soft had the wisdom to pick it up), let alone pack it in...

Incredibly deep yet simple gameplay ; Very fun and original ; Wonderful presentation: Great graphics and soundtrack

A few “skins” make it hard to see the gameplay ; You don’t control the music to the same extent as in Rez

If you own a PSP, you must own this game.

Puzzle games have been a staple on handhelds since Nintendo first packaged Tetris in with their old black and white GameBoy. It's the genre with the broadest appeal, enjoyed by everybody from hardcore gamers to casual gamers to non-gamers. You can...

There are games that suck you in, but a game like Lumines grabs hold and will never let you go. This is not only one of the best puzzle games you could buy, but also the first must-have game for the PSP.
