Modnation Racers: Road Trip Review

To the victor go the... parts for a new race track, a new helmet, and a new decal.

Please, the racing is fun, I just want to race; Yes, these tools look nice; What's that? Online Multiplayer

Stop giving me stuff I don't want; Don't try to sell me stuff I don't want, either; Seriously, stop it; No, I don't care if it's free; What? Stuff just for racing? NO!; OK, fine, I'll look; Yeah, this isn't what I want; But I don't want any of these...

Instead, Modnation Racers: Road Trip gets caught up in the huge pile of crap it's trying to hand you. Despite the well-executed customization suite and some entertaining gameplay, it feels like too many good ideas were buried under mountains and...

ModNation Racers: Road Trip PlayStation Vita Review

In addition, the game's touch screen is unresponsive. In most cases, you must touch the screen two or three times for your inputs to register. Thankfully, you can navigate menus using the d-pad, but cannot get around messing with the touch input to...

Addictive gameplay, sharing your creations, tight controls

No online multiplayer, shoddy touchscreen input, later races unexpectedly difficult

ModNation Racers: Road Trip Review

ModNation Racers: Road Trip gets off to an exciting start but sputters and lurches across the finish line.

Adorable, mischievous vibe ; First half of the campaign is really enjoyable ; Robust creation and sharing suite

Later races are too chaotic to be fun ; Stuttering frame rate and long load times ; No online multiplayer limits the sense of community

The general lack of smoothness--in the racing, in the menus, and elsewhere--is what keeps ModNation Racers: Road Trip from ever maintaining its stride. For every smile it elicits, there's a grimace to match it. For every joyous drift and creative...

ModNation Racers: Road Trip is finally here, but does it set a new standard for kart racing on the go?

ModNation Racers: Road Trip

ModNation Racers is very much an "odd one out" when it comes to Sony exclusives. It has the "build anything" mantra of LittleBigPlanet but remains tied to a single genre of game -- a genre that LittleBigPlanet itself is planning to conquer. It has also...

By far the most blatantly rushed cash-in attempt of all the PS Vita launch titles, ModNation Racers: Road Trip is to be avoided at all costs. With horrid visuals, dawdling menus, and threadbare features, this lazy piece of software insults the system...

ModNation Racers: Roadtrip Review (PS Vita)

ModNation Racers Roadtrip is far from a great game, but it's also far from a bad game. It's definitely something in between, and depending on what you are looking for from the game, you will either find yourself incredibly pleased or disappointed with...

ModNation Racers: Roadtrip

ModNation Racers spins, shoots, and surges onto PlayStation Vita with a new career mode featuring over 20 tracks and three new weapon classes. For those unfamiliar with the series, ModNation Racers is a lighthearted racing game in the tradition of Mario K

A lot of great features can't hide a game that's so broken at its core: this game is unfinished, plain and simple.

It seems like the main controversy surrounding this title is that it doesn't have online multiplayer despite being tailored for it. I understand the disappointment, but considering the game retails for $29.99 as opposed to $39.99, I thought this was a...
