Motorstorm: Arctic Edge - PSP review at Thunderbolt Games

When you look at the name Motorstorm: Arctic Edge, it's easy to expect the tried and tested Motorstorm template but on snowy mountains. These assumptions are all well and good, but let it be said that Motorstorm: Arctic Edge has variety and character -...

MotorStorm: Arctic Edge (PSP) Review

Perhaps the most fun you can have on an icy cliff.

The reason that I own a PSP is that I like to have bite sized moments of entertainment on car/train/plane rides. I understand the value of owning Final Fantasy on the PSP, but at the same time needing hours of free time to invest in an portable game...

MotorStorm: Arctic Edge

With two critically acclaimed games under its heaving bonnet, the MotorStorm series has become one of the most reputable racing games for the PlayStation 3, thanks to its unique brand of automotive anarchy. And now, after the success of last year?s...

The reckless racing style of Arctic Edge is certainly suiting for racing on the go, and the fact that Bigbig managed to fully retain the spirit of MotorStorm is truly commendable.

MotorStorm: Arctic Edge [PSP]

Since their inception, the Motorstorm games have provided an arcade racing thrill like no other. The original game proved a real showcase for the power of the PlayStation 3.

Tangible sense of speed ; Great visuals and presentation ; Well executed online play

Environmental hazards don't work ; Inaccurate collision detection ; Physics are too light for own good ; Uneven difficulty curve and transparent A.I

MotorStorm: Arctic Edge is a great game let down by some strange design decisions and transparent A.I. which makes it feel artificial and cheap at times. It remains one of the best arcade racers on the system.

MotorStorm: Arctic Edge Review

There's something about playing a game like MotorStorm and listening to pre-Black Metallica. I don't know, I guess something really kick ass and metal about off-road games that really gets me in the mood to listen to stuff like Metallica. First off,...

MotorStorm: Arctic Edge for the PSP is great. There's no two ways about it. It does everything that the console games have been doing for years now, with the one and only difference being the visual sacrifice. But even still, it's a damn good looking...

MotorStorm: Arctic Edge

Intense racing, repetitive levels.

Great-looking visuals; AI provides a pretty good challenge

Tracks start to feel repetitive during Festival Mode, making it feel like a bit of a grind

MotorStorm: Arctic Edge Review

MotorStorm's PSP debut will leave you on the "Edge" of your seat.

Even though it doesn't look as good as other MotorStorm games, we're happy with the way Arctic Edge turned out. The controls are easy to learn, the presentation is solid and the crashes and stunts are just as fun as ever.

MotorStorm: Arctic Edge Sony PSP Review

Instead of the Tropics or the West Coast mountaintops, Arctic Edge takes place in the Alaskan slopes. You'll have to contend with 12 race tracks filled with ice-covered dangers, including slippery roads, collapsible bridges, bobsled tracks, avalanches...

Each race is exciting and fun (even with the bigger vehicles), the controls work great (considering the format), graphics and sound fit the MotorStorm standard, multiplayer runs smoothly, cool Photo Mode

Comes up a little short in comparison to the PS3 MotorStorm games, computer intelligence is a bit iffy

At one point, the MotorStorm series was PS3 exclusive, between the original release and the Hawaiian themed sequel, Pacific Rift. However, Sony reconsidered, and now PSP owners can hit the open road with MotorStorm: Arctic Edge. Even though it has less...

MotorStorm: Arctic Edge is everything you could have hoped for in a portable version of MotorStorm. Yes, everything.

Once you are able to get online, you'll be treated to a mostly lag-free experience that lets you earn points for wins that in turn unlock new ranks (useful for racing against other vets) and allow you to unlock new stuff in addition to gaining Badges...
