Valkyria Chronicles II (PSP)

Valkyria Chronicles II squeezes the smart, turn-based strategy and deep, RPG-like customisation of its PlayStation 3 predecessor onto the PSP with great success. But for a few tweaks, the core experience is unaltered, and the familiar, hand-drawn art...

Valkyria Chronicles II

Technical limitations aside, Valkyria Chronicles II makes a fantastic transition from console to portable. Don't let this one pass you by, it's one of the better PSP games out there.

Crappy voice-acting; unimpressive graphics

Valkyria Chronicles II- PSP

Valkyria Chronicles 2 takes the tactical RPG away from the isometric views and micromanagement that's become the bread and butter for the genre. Each encounter is a tight skirmish, perfectly suited for the portable nature of the PSP. [Issue #9, p.46]

Valkyria Chronicles II- PSP

Except for the puny maps, Valkyria Chronicles II deftly expands on the original; even the relative downgrade in graphics, dictated by the handheld format, doesn't keep it from being an attractive game.

Valkyria Chronicles II- PSP

Time will tell whether Valkyria Chronicles will ultimately break out and become a mainstream favorite; but with two quality games now under its belt, the series certainly deserves any success that comes its way.

Most of the insipid school drama is skippable, since you have to choose to watch it by selecting to watch events from the overmap, and there's no penalty for only watching main storyline scenes. And even without all the optional cutscenes, there's...
