It's tough to enjoy movies, TV shows, or even music perched uncomfortably in front of a desktop computer. It's much more comfortable to take in your media from, say, the den or living room sofa. That's where media extenders come in. These devices let...

Wireless HD video streaming. 802.11n and 5GHz support. Full complement of outputs, including HDMI. Windows Media Center Extender mode for use with Vista. Silent operation.

Expensive. Requires Vista PC to take advantage of all features (though it works, in a reduced capacity, with Windows XP). No Mac or Linux support.

The D-Link DSM-750 is a capable, wireless HD media extender. But it costs nearly as much as the Xbox 360, which does much more.

Sweet Media Center For a Windows PC

Go ahead and bash Windows Vista (it's fun!), but don't knock its sweet, sweet Media Center app. Bundled with Vista Home Premium and Ultimate, MC serves up

Cinchy setup. Streams content from PCs and NAS drives. Supports live TV viewing, recording and timeshifting, provided your PC has a tuner. Front-mounted USB port lets you play content from flash drives

Video tops out at 1080i. Menus look a bit muddy. No volume controls on the extender remote. Can't play DVDs. Wireless streaming demands high-end Draft-N router. Xbox 360 works equally well and plays games and DVDs to boot

D-Link DSM-750

The D-Link DSM-750 system is a great idea, and it would have been a great device if the company had spent a bit more time testing out the product and working out glitches with the software. Experts are suggesting that most of the problems experienced...

The kinks haven't been worked out yet ...

For the price, it's hard to beat. But you have to be willing to hold it's hand for everything.

COOL!! Easy to use when it's working. Wireless speed is fast enough for me, but I'm not pushing it too hard. Competitive price for specs

freezes up :-(~ Software is a bit quirky

Do not buy this product. It is not perfected.

I am waiting for my 3rd RMA unit to be sent. Tech support is terrible and I think it is outsorced overseas until you get to level 3. This device is not worth the money or aggrivation. I've heard the Linksys dma 2100 is cheaper and better.

After setting it up it performed well but at times was very slow to respond even though it was a wired connection

The dsm-750 tends to freez and lock up for no reason. You must reset and unplug then go through the setup configuration all over again

Don't waste your money!

Media extenders are great products because they bring your computer into your living room. The DSM-750 has good picture and sound, but not spectacular. The interface is lousy and if you want it because of its ability to play your non-Media Center media...

Adequate picture and sound, lousy interface

Best DLink media player yet!!!

I've owned the DSM-320, DSM-320RD, DSM-510, DSM-520 and now this one. I really thought the DSM-510 was nice compared to the earlier ones, but now having experienced the DSM-750 it is now king of the hill. As expected there were bumps to getting...
