Denon AVR-1912 review

As music and movie lovers demand more power and features, the number of brands entering the market through dealers also increases. Denon is one of the brands whose presence is well known in India. The new AVR-1912 is a receiver designed for enthusiasts...

The Denon AVR-1912's price in India is Rs. 45,900, so it doesn’t really end up being the cheapest receiver around. As far as its connectivity options go, it’s very good and it's a solid solution for a good speaker set.

Denon AVR-1912

The Denon AVR-1912 is the most complete midrange AV receiver we've seen in 2011 so far. It's one of the only two receivers in its class (the other being the Pioneer VSX-1021-K) with built-in support for Apple's AirPlay, a feature that lets you use any...

The Denon AVR-1912 is the most full-featured AV receiver we've seen at this price, with built-in AirPlay for Apple's iOS products and six HDMI inputs. Its networking features also include DLNA compatibility and several streaming media services, such as...

The GUI can look pretty bad if your HDTV has mediocre standard-definition processing. Denon also doesn't offer a Wi-Fi dongle, so you'll need to use a workaround if you don't have Ethernet in your living room. And we would have preferred one of those...

The Denon AVR-1912 gets our Editors' Choice Award in the midrange AV receiver category, with built-in AirPlay, outstanding sound quality, and six HDMI inputs.

Denon AVR-1912 7.1 Channel Networked A/V Receiver Preview

There is a lot to like in the Denon AVR-1912. It is not only networked but also streams Internet radio, Rhapsody, Napster, and Pandora and is compatible with DNLA 1.5, Windows 7, and Apple's AirPlay.

There is a lot to like in the Denon AVR-1912. While they had to make some tradeoffs as far as number of connections, the fact that a $530 receiver is not only networked but also streams Internet radio, Rhapsody, Napster, and Pandora and is compatible...

Denon AVR-1912 7.1 Channel Networked A/V Receiver First Look

For those not in the know, there are two receiver lines from Denon. The ones that have a model number that end in 'CI' are the higher end, "Custom Installer" models. These models often have expanded features that attract not only the power user, but...

"Excellent receiver"

The last Dennon receiver I bought 15 years ago is still going strong.

Works as advertised, relatively easy to setup.

The manual is a bit obtuse.

"Poor 2 channel, non dynamic, very thin/tin can sound"

I purchased the AVR1912 based upon CNET review. However when building out my basement for the Home Theater, I only wanted to listen to 2 channel stereo. Compared to my 30 year old Marantz 2252b (only 50 watts) and Denon 1025, the AVR1912 sounds like a...

Tech support at Denon was superb. Quick to get in contact, and very knowledgeable.
