Marantz NA7004 Network Music Streamer

For their first take on a dedicated network audio player, Marantz has done an amazing job of doing things well. The sheer convenience of the player combined with the quality and performance that the NA7004 delivers with the FLAC format, including...

Marantz NA7004 review

Marantz's NA7004 is the first 'proper' hi-fi product to make streaming simple

Slick operation ; Good sound through digital output

Built-in Wi-Fi would make it fully competitive

Marantz NA7004 - £600

Plenty of streaming functions, but we suspect the inclusion of Apple Airplay will pique as much curiosity

Very flexible; well controlled bass; good FM tuner section

Not the easiest unit to navigate and sound may be a little laid-back for some

A way of accessing music, with unfussily attractive sound

Marantz NA7004

A formidable streamer aided by a fine price. Up there with the best at the money

Fine build; solid specification; dynamic, entertaining sound

No wi-fi; a hint of brightness but nothing offensive; poor control app

Marantz NA7004 Network Audio Player

A source component for the new age, from a company with a hi-fi heritage prouder than most. In audio terms, the NA7004 has the lot.

Does about 100 things (or in Australia, a few less) ; Solid audio quality ; Excellent menu systems

No Napster/LastFM in Oz ; Couldn’t try AirPlay ; Firmware not localised

iPhone/ iPad/iPod control via the Wizz app is pretty much essential for convenient use of the NA7004 A huge range of digital sources in one box with sound priorities kept to the fore — we love the concept of the NA7004. We’ll report back when Apple...

The swiss army knife of audio players

Not sure what I'd rave about first: the USB DAC functionality that lets me play all my HDTracks files or the network options. Love it

Does everything I need it to do and more (including AirPlay) with the superb quality and build I've come to expect from Marantz

A bit pricey (but well worth it)

Wonderful functionality but lacking in usability

Overall, a very fine but flawed piece of equipment. Wonderful hardware, shame about the software. It would be nice if it had wifi and bluetooth, but those omissions don't bother me much. I don't regret purchasing it, but wish the software designers...

Sound quality magnificent, full featured, looks good, nice screen display. Most functions accessible from front panel buttons as well as remote. First-time setup was a breeze, except DAB a bit tricky

Dreadful user interface; not intuitive to use, sometimes extremely slow to respond to button presses (e.g. scrolling through lists). Unable to set internet radio stations as presets (only as "favourites"). A bit slow to start up and shut down. Remote i

Marantz NA7004 Network Audio Player

Very versatile piece of kit for the price. Can be used as Dab radio, DAC, or music streamer directly from PC or iPod, USB stick etc

The sheer range of streaming options means that the instructions/controls take a little getting used to. There is no inbuilt wireless receiver so router connection is via a cable
