Love the receiver - hate the HDMI board problems

Would I buy another Onkyo receiver given what I know now about the HDMI board issues? Time will tell...I'll have to see if Onkyo will repair the receiver a second time, and this time out of warranty.

I have owned this receiver for over two years now. Awesome video and sound playback, features, etc

Do some research online - Onkyo appears to have a known HDMI board issue with a number of their receivers. My unit started having intermittent sound problems and over a period of time the sound failed totally. I had to pay near $100 to have the...

Nice Machine

I had a carver Receiver before this onkyo. I have to give this one 4 stars. I did have to return this one. I will try one more.

Nice clear sound, This thing will help keep the house warm all winter

HDMI should be recalled on this receiver

Onkyo HDMI boards

I bought a different brand with less known issues. And that being said, there are a lot of good Onkyo units out that will not need HDMI board replacement service.

A lot of pro's but, read below

Some Onkyo's, what percentage, who knows, Onkyo units 1007, 3007,5007's have faulty HDMI boards & have to be sent in to Onkyo to get them replaced, U pay shipping in. Or return unit to etailer if it happens soon after purchase. This is well noted in...

Awesome OOPS

I was into real high end audio at one time. Today, I just need something to make my TV sound good. Problem is, once you know what good sound is, it's hard to go back. This unit strikes a happy medium on cost/performance scale. It delivers the goods....

Awesome sound. Good up-convert quality. Lots of inputs and outputs

Broken within 24 hours. HDMI inputs went south almost immediately, leaving only component in working. Audio section started failing the next day. What a disappointment

Awesome AV Receiver

I was a bit worried when the unit came without the customary double packing I'm used to from newegg but box was handle nicely and not damaged.

Does everything it's advertised as capable of. Noticeable sounds and video improvement in my setup. As for the "clicking sound" I don't notice it unless I'm trying to hear it. Also, Onkyo has provided new firmware to speedup the switching and lessen...

Amazing

Full 7.1 speaker system (going to set up the last 2 channels upstairs when I get around to it), so i don't use the highs or wides, but I have high end speakers (Definitive) that fill the room anyhow, so its not necessary. Mitsubishi HC5500 1080p...

This unit is very easy to set up (easy being a relative term of course), has a very good calibration system, lots of options, and very good features. One of my big reasons for getting this one over some of the cheaper ones is the streaming music - its...

If you use it for a very long time it does get a little hot. At the very min. never store something on top of it to keep the vents clear, but I actually bought a little computer fan to sit on top of it (which I don't even turn on unless I'm going to...

Good Stuff

Used 200101 Aiwa HTiB Speakers without a Sub and it still sounds amazing, Going from 275 watts total to 135/Channel I was afraid that these Speakers would sound terrible, if I had a good Subwoofer I might keep this set-up. But, I have a Onkyo SKS-HT870...

Good, Solid Performer ; 2/25/2010 Firmware update fixed relay clicking and Delay

Great Sound!!!

I mostly use this to watch BDs so the clicking relays only happen during the previews, once the movie starts there is no problem. The sound is very clean and the DSP modes are excellent, which far out weighs any of the cons IMHO. Plan on spending a...

Great sound quality, Plenty of inputs (including Phono), Ethernet connection, Audyssey EQ, THX modes, and plenty of power. Will pass through 1080P/24

The remote is not back lit, relays click a lot during BD previews or when switching channels / commercials

ONKYO TXNR1007

I've had this unit for 3 months and it is everything I had hoped it was and more. The unit is solid and not a chore to understand. The well written manual is easy to follow making set up a breeze. If you want this system with less power consider the...

TX-NR1007B

I have a RMA number and will return it for some other receiver.

Great audio, Newegg Customer Service Representative was very helpful and courteous

VIDEO: The HDMI video out cycles every 2-3 seconds between a good picture and a blank picture. Once in a while, there are video artifacts present. It made no difference on the HDMI input (Directv and blueray). Onkyo tech support could not help, even...

Product Specifications

As Onkyo's first ever 9.2-channel receiver, the TX-NR1007 combines network capability and advanced A/V processing with a myriad of surround sound speaker possibilities. For instance, you can use Audyssey DSX or Dolby Pro Logic IIz to create an expanded, more immersive 9-channel sound stage for games and movies. Alternatively, you can supplement one of several different 7.2-channel set-ups in your main room with 2-channel sound in a second room. Along with the assurance of THX Ultra2 Plus certification, the TX-NR1007 brings greater convergence to your home entertainment. Audio files from a networked PC or streaming Internet radio can be fed to the receiver, and then processed and output with customary Onkyo power and fidelity. Audyssey MultiEQ XT ensures a well-balanced, room-matching speaker set-up, while ISF video calibration and 1080p upscaling via Faroudja DCDi Cinema work to get the most out of your video sources. Merely cherry-picking the specs, though, doesn't do justice to this mighty receiver - Onkyo suggests giving it an audition and letting your own eyes and ears be the judge.
